Is it possible that my Sun Conure is in heat?

Lucy has been acting really weird for the past few days. Recently we have covered the top of her cage and found that she likes to spend more time up there, its like her little hang out,so we decided to leave it. But the weird thing is that she recently bit my fiance...twice...which she has not done before. I was witness and she it was bizarre. She climbed up on his shoulder like she wanted to be there and then latched on to his ear big time. Now we are kind of untrusting of her...

He keeps asking me if she could be in heat. She also has a weird behavior with her paper towel tubes....I feel silly even saying this but its almost as if she is humping it!!

I don't know what is going on...any ideas would be much appreciated.

i think your rite. take the paper towel away because the more she does it to the paper towel, the more her hormonal behavior will increase. has she regurgetated for anyone? also petting her down the back can increase hormonal behavior.

its about cockatiels but there is stuff for parrots in general. when she spends time in here little place with the cover, its a nesting behavior. they like to go under couches, in shoes, shoe boxes etc. as a nesting spot. allowing her to stay in these places can increase her breeding behavior. hope this helped if you have any questions just ask

Birds don't go into heat. But she certainly does sound, well, 'frisky' I suppose we'll call it, lol, and both males and females will hump during these times. And of course, they can and usually do become moody as well.
