Hello, we have a lovebird that is about 1 year old and lately she seems to be really itchy. She is always scratching and biting at herself and it starting to lose some feathers around the back of her neck and her bottom and she shakes her tail around a lot and just seems like she really spazzes out sometimes. (We don't know for sure if she is a she) We also have a Nanday and a Cockatiel and they are not itching themselves. Our birds are out of their cages all day so they play together all the time. Any suggestions on what could be causing this and what we can do? Thanks!

Take your lovebird to an avian vet to rule out medical reasons for the extra itchyness. They can also advice you on ways to fix itchy/dry skin.

Suggestions should be along the lines of - if she's on a seed diet, get her onto a pelleted diet with varied foods.

Give more baths.

Provide vitamin E and/or A (coconut oil/red palm oil or some other supplement)

Aloe vera added to the bathing water may also help, although pure water is typically the best all around thing to use for bathes.
