Did the rescue indicate if he’s overweight at all from his vet checkup? I could be wrong, but he sounds hormonal to me. One of the biggest triggers of hormonal behavior in birds (aside from regular seasonal triggers) is diet, both foods that are being given, & overeating. It sounds like he’s got access to good foods, although some pellets that are available are higher in fats & sugar. For treats, I cut up almonds, & give my Amazon very small chunks at a time as rewards. If you’re not sure if Turbo is overweight, I would take him to a vet & try to get that sorted out. An overly hormonal bird will be difficult to deal with, & training will be hard. If you’re able to get him into a calmer state, through diet & sleep, I agree about a reset, & start over trying to bond & target train.Turbo was to the vet when he entered the rescue and was treated for metal toxicity. He eats pellets, veggies, and seeds and almonds for treats. His cage is large so it is in the living room as there is nowhere else to put it. He has many shredable toys in his cage along with an assortment of different perches. The only shiny things are his food and water dishes.
