Hello everyone.
Just looking if you someone can shed some light on this.
I have a three year old African grey parrot called Gizmo, and I've had him since he was 10 weeks old, no problems he's always been fine.
But lately in the last few months a friend of my dad's has been asking us to mind his budgie whilst he goes away so for the last few months we've had a budgie staying for upto 10 days at a time and he's stayed about three times now, he stays in gizmo's room at the other side of the room, and we always greet and feed gizmo etc before the budgie so gizmo doesn't get jealous.
But despite this, gizmo seems to get jealous whenever we have to feed or talk to the budgie and he watches us everytime we do this. He seems a little different lately, a little distant at times and he's not taking much note to his new toys or his monkey nuts which he used to love.

Just wanted your views on this whole situation, of course he's probably jealous and we've only ever had him and no other pets.

I think he's jealous and maybe a bit mad...those guys are like little kids. He will calm down I think, I had a grey who did similar things. There are more experienced owners here who I'm sure have more and better advice than I on how to overcome it.

I dunno about big birds, but all of mine, even budgies have jealousy issues. :) I always thought it was normal (like in little kids). If one comes to my hand/shoulder/head everyone else is there too right away and wants the best position. :D I'm just very stern in not allowing my birds to fight with each other.

My CAG is less jealous than the amazons and the macaws, but probably twice as stubborn!

The pair bond birds are WAY more jealous!
