Hello
This sure looks like a great place to learn more about parrots

I am looking for a little guidance

When I was a lot younger I had a blue and gold macaw he was a great pet. As I got older and my job has taken me in many directions I had to rehome him after about 10 years. I am now settled and stable ( approaching retirement ) so the wife and I want go get a parrot. We really want a larger bird my concern would be noise, we have a large house but I am don't think my wife realizes how noisy some parrots can be.
After that I guess I am asking for suggestions on a larger parrot that is on the quieter side, or at least not to noisy early in the morning

Thank you
Peter

Go greenwing!!!

I would go with what Birdman says! He always gives great advice and has lots of the bigger parrots!

I could be biased though since I've always wanted a macaw!

Birdman knows what's up! As a frequent volunteer at my local bird rescue, I can personally attest that while visits to the large parrot room can be deafeningly loud at times, Greenwings rarely utter a peep :)

Another fellow volunteer owns a Hahns Macaw that she brings along regularly, and sometimes lets us care for him when she leaves for trips. He is a pleasantly quiet bird, and even though he has his nippy moods like any other macaw he is very gentle about it. They're ever so slightly on the smaller side, somewhere in between conure and large macaw - just right for someone looking to get into bigger birds without going "all in", so to speak. The beak being a decent 40% smaller is also more comfortable for me personally... LOL

I've certainly learnt a lot here. Welcome to the forum and good luck finding your new bird.

Hey Peter, welcome to the forums! There are so many species to choose from. A lot of medium sized parrots have huge personalities, good luck with your search.

Welcome to the forum! I agree with Birdman

Eclectus are wonderful birds as well, as long as the diet does not pose an issue:)
