Aww adorable! And TWO sunnies! How on earth are you still sane?
Oh my gosh, that made me laugh. I don't care what 2 birds you have, 2 Sunnies are, umm, a challenge. The funny thing is I have a girl and boy. I hand-fed them both for a month, so to say they are bonded to me is an understatement. They have casual sex now and then, but when the 3 of us are out at the same time, it is mommy they want.
Actually, my whole life revolves around needy "drive you crazy" animals. About 5:30 am, the sheep start. I don't know how many of you know what a hungry sheep sound like, but cute is not in the definition. They get outside my bedroom window, and the best I can describe it is "blllllaaaaaahhhhhhh" over and over as if they were screaming into a megaphone. Now these animals ALWAYS have food, so it is more of a habit.
So I get up and take care of the screaming sheep, carry a big stick so my ram doesn't knock me down, and "feed" the sheep. Then the horses are fed. They are easy and quiet.
Then I have 2 herding dogs (and 2 little dogs) that are like little kids crying out, watch me mom, watch what I can do. If I don't give them their 30 minutes of individual attention the day is basically ruined.
Then the birds. Pickles is a piece of cake. Never bites, super loving, not as snuggly as the Suns. The Suns are as different as night and day. Winston, my male, is loud and demanding. He is a fearless acrobat as he zooms through the house. Absolutely. No. Fear. He is also my only attack bird. He tolerates my husband and close friends, but I have learned to keep him in his house or he will launch himself into a stranger's face and try to rip off his/her ear. Embarrassing. He now stays in his cage when strangers come over.
Lady is just what her name implies. She is also pretty close to perfect. She just wants to ride around on my shoulders (she prefers me but any comfortable shoulder will do). Lady and Pickles are careful flyers and don't even attempt Winston's acrobats.
For those of you with "difficult" birds, don't just blame yourself. Winston is a huge challenge, while my other two are cruise control. I mean, they are all velcro birds and will crawl on my neck and konk out. Especially Winston. I adopted them all on the same day (long story). So there is no rhyme or reason as to the attitude differences.
But Skittys Daddy is right about the near impossibleness of two Sunnies. Quiet is not in the dictionary and ear piercing screaming is an understatement. We are just used to it now and try to let them out as much as possible, as this cures the screaming. And they are both snuggle hogs and will fight over me, which is always fun as I usually get a finger in the way of their battles. They would never (or almost never) bite me on purpose.
Well, enough rambling. Love your fids (and other non-human friends) today like their is no tomorrow.
