Ki & Cally Update (Pic heavy)

I see an improvement too in their expressions! They look more confident and curious than in the first pics. They are so fluffy now:)

Terry, they are looking great! You're doing a great job.

One question tho, you mentioned sometime about the person you got them from had more in the same shape as these two were. Have you thought about turning them into the local animal control/humane society? It seems that the way he treated them should be classified as abuse to me. Not sure what the laws are up there, just curious.

The other birds they have are not plucked. They all have food and fresh water (even if it is the wrong kind of food) and the area is clean. Unfortunately, the Humane Society does not care here about whether they have toys or anything, just the basics which are being met:(

Sorry to hear that. :( Do you think it would do any good to talk to him? Maybe he just doesn't know.....God knows I didn't when I got Zack! Just guessing that maybe he is just uninformed. Looking, hoping for a long distance way to improve their lives. :o

This is such a great idea, Terry!! I am willing to bet in less than 6 months, when you compare the before and after photos, nobody will believe they are the same birds. ;)

Both their facial expressions speak volumes! I am looking at happy, content, BEAUTIFUL Amazons. :)

You are JUST what they both needed. :D

I am in contact with them, Doug, and he has been asking questions about proper nutrition:) I am hopeful!

Very cool! I'm glad you're still in contact. Hopefully you can get him on the right track.

Great job! They really look like they have improved! :)

That's also awesome they are reaching out to you on better care. Sometimes, people are just misinformed, and do not mean to cause harm to the animals.

Love seeing their updates! It's amazing what a difference just two weeks have made with you :)

I thought it was time for another update.
We have now had Ki & Cally for just over 2 months, and there have been ups and downs with the plucking. They are doing better for now, and are eating well. They LOVE their veggies and Cally is starting to chew on her toys a little bit.
They actually seem happy to see me now when I come in to visit with them or feed, and Cally will come over to whatever side of the cage I am on to coo a little bit.
Ki's chest is looking a little better, there is more fluff and less matted fuzz now. They love their mistings and fight each other to be closest to me for the misting.

So without further ado, here are the latest pics:)

They both look so sweet, Terry!! :) So happy to see updated photos of Ki & Cally. :D

Wow, I can't believe it's been 2 months???

Definite improvements, Terry! Especially Cally! Wow! You and Reg have done an amazing job with them!

It is slow going for sure, and the setbacks are a little depressing. But the progress still beats the setbacks, so I am hopeful for the future:)

Yes, indeed. And remember, also, how hard a habit plucking can be for a bird to break. It's no indication of discontent in this case, because it's obvious that they're very loved and happy in their new homes. But the neglect in their previous home apparently lasted for years. The most important thing is that they're happy, now. Full plumage or no.

Looking GREAT Terry! Thank you for the update! Keep up the excellent work! Your love is working wonders!

Wow Terry I am just seeing this thread. What a difference your love has made!:D

All I can say is OMG !! Look at them [I can see the life in their eyes ] :) There filled out and looked relaxed . Thank you for the update
