1 BFA- Kiwi. Hatch circa 98', forever home with us Dec. 08'
Our landlords (husband and wife) are very nice people and lucky for us, are bird people too (even better, their bird makes more noise than ours so I don't have to panic when Kiwi gets a bug up his butt to holler;))! They have an IRN. I was actually watching him the past few days while they were out of town (and the little devil nipped me when I tried handing him a treat:52:, but I digress). They got home last night, and I ran into the wife this afternoon while I was outside with Kiwi letting him enjoy the sunshine after a bath. She has always wanted to hold him, but Kiwi isn't fond of strangers and really won't go to anyone but me or my husband. He is especially not fond of women.

She asked again if she could hold him and stuck out her arm and when I told him to step down, he actually went to her:eek:! Her bird is often up on her shoulder, so she had her arm positioned in such a way he could have climbed up there, but he didn't. He climbed to her elbow and them back down (elbow is where he's been trained to stop). I was so proud of him!:D He stood there for a good minute, very calm, didn't get flashy, minded his training and put his little foot up signaling he wanted to come back to mommy when he was done sitting on the scary strangers arm. I think getting him out in public more (albeit in the bird backpack) where he's around all kinds of people who come up to him is making him more social and less fearful of strangers. Though, I am not just going to let just anyone handle him because he behaved himself this once. Another "bird person" understands birds can bite, other simply curious people...not so much and Kiwi still has an aggressive streak in him.But overall YAY FOR MY KIWI!:green:

:D Yay glad to hear the good news! Looks like Mr. Kiwi is branching out little by little. :)
Funny how thankfully the landlords are bird people, and their bird is the noisier one. Too bad you got bit!

Their bird makes loud, but cute noises. He whistles and talks to himself during the day. They actually found us because we posted a "looking for apartment" ad on craigslist that stated we had a bird and they were looking to rent out their basement. Works out all around. And I wouldn't say he BIT me, more nipped me with his cute little red beakie (and she said thats because I only offered one seed, he usually gets quite a few at a time, so apparently he must have been offended at my peace offering).

That is WOW!!!! I'm so proud of Kiwi. Does he realized he just showed how smart he is and that he has potential? Ha!

Good job Kiwi! Definitely don't want to bite the landlord LOL

No, that probably would not have been very good. May have had an extra $50 tacked on to our rent for "damages" lol;) He was a very brave, very well behaved boy.

Way to go Kiwi!!!! You are such a brave and well behaved boy. Your momma sounds so proud of you. :D
