Short cute story. Every night when I tuck Sass to bed, I finish off the routine by handing her an almond and sneaking a quick kiss on the side of her wing. Yes, I know the kiss annoys her, but it has never amounted to anything but her shifting her weight away from me, dirty looks and grumbling, as she has always been far too distracted by the the almond. And the kiss is kind of my way of letting her know (and reminding myself) that she can be as good or bad as she wants, but at the end of the day I'm still going to love her the same.

So tonight, we did our bedtime routine and as I leaned in for the final smooch, her little thigh lifted up sideways and executed a perfect kung fu chop with the chop landing right in my open eyeball! I wish I had gotten it on camera. And the little green thing looked so smug and full of herself munching on her almond while I hoped around holding my eye well tears streamed from between my fingers. It seems like she ALWAYS finds a way!

Must admit that I lol’d at the visual this created :)

Hahahahaha! Somehow they always do seem to get the upper hand on us foolish humans.

Very funny story, but not as bad as a Kung foo Finch
My mate has Red Crested Finches and every time he walks into the aviary they fly straight into his 'you know what' and sends him running out of the aviary clasping himself in pain
Thanks

Cute funny story. Thank you for sharing it.
When I first researched getting a parrot I read about all these goofy people doing these silly bedtime routines. Now a few years later I always sing Jazz a little bedtime song from the Sound of Music. As soon as I start singing he mentally gets himself ready for night night and happily gets in his night time cage.

Aaa, the famous Amazon side thrust. Very effect when well timed! Getting the timing right is based around your being very consistent in your moves. Switch it up a bit will provide a way around the foot side thrust. Just remember to keep switching it up.

How funny! I would have loved to be the fly on the wall to see that one. Hahaha.
