Casey seems to be the laziest bird ever. Let me start by saying Casey is almost totally used to us. I'm thinking 'he' may be a 'she'. After the first day Casey would run around in front of the cage, and I would let him/her out and he/she would run around and chew things. Since yesterday, all that he/she has mostly done is sit on the food bowl. Refuses to eat anything but the seed mix. I can't start training because Casey is not interested in millet (there may be some in the seed mix). I have tried banana, carrot, and apple so far. Currently don't have many other fruits or vegetables. Suggestions on how to get him/her to eat new things? I will hopefully get pellets today and start introducing that as well. He/she doesn't seem sick at all. Not fluffed up, sleeps on one foot, eats plenty (seeds, anyway).

UPDATE:Casey tried apple. SO HAPPY!

Hello! Congrats on your new addition! Do you have any photos?! Maybe we can help you know for sure if your birdie is a he/she! :)

Try hanging Kale through the bars with a clothespin holding it. Mine LOVE that! Or clothespin a string of millet so he/she gets used to the treat first. That is what I did then started hand feeding millet once they have the had the "sweet tooth" for it! :)

I have a few photos in my albums, I can't seem to get them to load onto a post.

I will try the millet idea...

I would offer cooked and cooled whole grain quinoa, it's full of nutrients and birds love it!! Great way to get a bird to try new foods and start transitioning to adding fruits/veggies to the quinoa.
