Lemon Juice?

I need to eat better... and im thinking about sharing with my conure.

So im gonna start working from home but it wont be for a while. But until then I will need my boyfriend to take over lunch time when Syren starts eating solid food.
I'd like spoil the crap out of her with a healthy veggie and friuty and pellety diet.
Im just wondering if it'd be alright for me to make a fruit salad with lemon juice to keep the fruit fresher longer.
Everything I plan on using will be bird friendly. And should be fine for Joe to spoon a few chunks out each day and add on top of her pellets.

Hi Fruit salad sounds good but skip the lemon juice for your bird IMO.

My parents parrots (occasionally) get lemon wedges and actually enjoy eating them. Mind you, thats like a once in a blue moon treat. The thing with citrus fruits is they are all extremely acidic (lemon probably amongst the worst) nd parrots can't eat too much citrus in general, even though most love it (be it lemons, oranges, grapefruit etc...). I wouldn't give it to a baby bird either, too acidic, but once they are a fully weaned juvenile, I wouldn't foresee any issues with occasionally offering some fruit salad with (fresh) lemon juice on it. Just not every day and don't use that lemon juice in the squeeze bottle, it's full of preservatives.

I use freshly squeezed lemons occasionally to flavour their brown rice and they go crazy for it. I think it's fined if used only occasionally, and in small quantities. I always use fresh lemons, though.

You could also consider apple cider vinegar if you choose not to use the lemons.
It IS acidic, so it should help preserve fresh foods/prevent bacteria even if not to the same extent as lemon juice, and has some nice antibacterial properties in general.
