Ok. Now that I have your attention, I want to know if it's normal for a bird's poop to vary in consistency throughout the day. Gizmo's a.m. poops are usually more watery than the ones he does later on in the day. Is this because he eats a lot first thing in the morning? Are watery poops of concern?
Thanks for your help! :)

Yes it does. Depending on the amount of water, fruit is consumed.
Usually the first dropping for the day is large & is a little on the wet side.
If your bird eats seed or pellets that would explain the dryer droppings.
If they are consistent & not runny all the time then i would think all is normal.

If the urine part of the dropping is copious and clear, that's called polyuria. While it can signal disease, it's also common when a lot of liquid is consumed. If it's normal for your bird, it probably isn't worrisome, but it never hurts to have a culture done if you are concerned. OTOH my GCC eats tons of fresh foods and his droppings are quite wet pretty much all the time.

Diarrhea is a different thing and can also occur. The feces part of the dropping gets diffuse and may smell bad. That usually (always?) does signal disease.

My bird definitely has several "poop stages" throughout the day. Morning after veggies (especially if sweet potatoes are concerned) are mushy and different colors. After a shower is super wet and frequent if she drinks a ton of water. Rest of the day is solid and brown due to pellets.

When we first got her, her poop was definitely not good-- yellowy and wet. Treated her for bad intestinal bacteria and all is now well! So it can't hurt to get yours checked out. It's only money and you get piece of mind or even save your birdy's life!

OMG! I just read the thread on this board that ZuPreme Fruit Blend, expiring in 11/30/13 has been recalled due to excessive calcium! This was the food that I'd been feeding Gizmo since I brought him home!!! One of the side effects from eating this product was watery/loose stools. My poor baby. I've been making him sick without my knowing it.:11: Luckily I switched his pellets to Harrison's high potency several weeks ago.

You know something??? It could be a coincidence, but since I switched out his pellets, he's a lot less bitey.
