Licking Quaker?

My 8 yo Quaker, Willow, likes to lick me. He will lick whatever he can reach, but mostly my face, nose, around my eyes. My two previous Q’s never did this. I’m wondering if this is just another way to allopreen me? (I suppose parrots might use their tongues to preen or lick feathers into shape.)

Could this suggest that he needs more salt? It’s really kind of strange. I’m glad they aren’t wet licks because that is one thing I hate about dogs—dog slobber.

His previous owner said he licked her, too, when riding on her shoulder.

It’s an improvement over him snapping my fingernail back, over and over. But it is strange. Anyone else have a lickey Quaker?

That is interesting. Could just be unique to him, as how he expresses affection. Does he lick other stuff? If he does spend time licking random stuff id have him checked out. If its just you he lick probably fine.

None of mine lick me, I just get kisses and preening

My Quaker does this too! I was wondering if it was normal or not lol. He mostly just licks my hands but he will lick my face too sometimes 😅

Willow only licks me. He doesn’t lick random stuff, or stuff in his cage. And he licks whatever part of me he can reach. I guess he licks my face more because with my fingers it seems he likes more to snap my fingernails or remove hangnails.

It's normal, in my house anyways. Probably because after we sweat a little we taste slightly salty.
