Litter for perch

Just curious as to what type of substrate people are using for the bottom of there perches and cages.

Right now I'm using newspaper in the cage and shredded news paper for the stand. The only problem is Fred likes to throw the paper on the floor and I'm looking to switch to something that is not so fun to play with.

Newspaper. I have playstands but I don't like them... feel too small to me, so I hardly use them.

If the stand has the right kind of base, you could do something like linoleum tiles and just wipe up the mess? I've also seen people use corn cobb, walnut shells and sand. Out of those three, I would only recommend the sand and clean it *regularly* as bacteria and mold can still grow in it, especially if it gets moist.

I use sand. Seems to do the job well.

In cage bottoms I use newspaper, but in the bottom pan of chili's jungle gym is sand. I regularly clean it by sifting it using a kitty litter type scoop.

Ditto to what Shirre uses. I do the exact same. Newspaper for the cages, sand for the Java Trees. Kitty litter scoops work GREAT in the sand!
