Parrots
Cinnamon green cheeked conure hatched 2/18/2025.
Little Parrot has been with me for 5 weeks now and he's made good progress at settling in and adjusting to his new home. He's been remarkably comfortable with me from the beginning. He doesn't climb into my sleeve as much but he still likes to snuggle. More often now he'll perch on my arm and snuggle against my chest. Sometimes he falls asleep there. :)

He enjoys exploring and we wander around the apartment, stopping to inspect everything that captures his attention. I explain what everything is and tell him all about them, often ending by saying "you can't have that. It's not good for parrots." He's a parrot so of course he thinks everything is his. He likes to stop at the kitchen sink for a drink from the faucet and he decided that was a good way to take a shower too. He'll sit on the palm of my hand under the thin stream of water, turning this way and that, until he's thoroughly soaked. He enjoys taking a shower but he doesn't seem to like being wet afterwards. When he's done I usually end up with a damp parrot up my sleeve for a while. :D

Little Parrot likes to look at the pictures of my previous parrots Ralph and George on the wall (he hasn't yet discovered Scooter's picture in a standup frame on my desk) and examines them closely. Yesterday when he was looking at my painting of Ralph he said "pretty bird." An appropriate comment for sure. He hasn't said anything else but "pretty bird" so far. He loves the word "pretty" and will say it as much as 6 times before he gets around to saying "bird."

He's making some progress with eating vegetables and he eats lots of pellets now too, so we're gradually cutting back on the seed mix.

Life with a baby conure can be like a roller coaster ride sometimes and it's never dull. :)

Thank you for the wonderful update, @cnyguy, I'm glad to hear your baby is settling in so well. Have you got any new pics you'd like to share? Cos I bet he's growing up fast too!

Little Parrot sounds so sweet. 🥰

Nice to hear. He sounds like he's developing a good personality.

Awwwwww he sounds a lot like my Ona!! She loves to bathe the same way and also says pretty a lot. How adorable 🥰

Any closer to selecting a name? Not that I don't like Little Parrot- it's sweet. I tend to call all my birds Baby Bird. I even call wild birds Baby Bird. I've been known to call cute little children Baby Bird! Another member named their "little parrot" Piccolo, Italian for Little.
