Hi everyone!
So Tiny has been weighing in every day at 56 grams and look at today's result :)

And that is his weight before breakfast! Tiny has his last antibiotic injection today and will then go for more tests to make sure the problem is gone. I'm hoping in another week he will be 60g :)
Just wanted to share the good news as I'm really happy!! :)
Sorry it's a bad photo he kept wriggling around!:orange:

that is THE best news!!!!....2 grams is 2 grams!!

I'm sure she will put on more weight, but won't be too much more.

maybe when she hits the 60 gram mark you should celebrate?!!

Thought I'd share another pic of two of my other tiels Drummer and Summer above. Mikey is you are reading this these are the ones I msg you about!!!

I sure will!
Tiny has started bonding with Rocky it's really cute he copies EVERYTHING Rocky does and if I take Rocky away he starts to cry...aww :)

That is such great news, Lisa! And how sweet that she is so attached to Rocky:)

She better not grow too big I will have to rename her Giant

She will be like those big bikers they call Tiny:) it will still work!

great!! did you have a 60g party?...haha.
it is possible she may reach about 70 grams.

I'd be happy with 70g! I have another dwarf tiel who I have posted pictures of in the past...she is about 67grams (but fluctuates). She looks a LOT less fragile than Tiny though and has all her feather properly developed.

So I wonder why she has put on 5g in the two weeks since I had her. Could the bacterial infection have prevented her from growing?? I don't know much about bacterial infections. Vet said her poop was a bit gritty so maybe her food wasn't digesting well. I'm so glad I took her in. Winter is not too far around the corner and I don't think she would have survived without treatment. The vet didn't really discuss her size, but we are taking Tiny back to get retested now that she has finished her antibiotics.

When birds are sick they tend to not eat as much food and will lose weight. Certain medications may also cause them to lose their appetite. Once they start to feel better, they can usually put on weight.

Good news, Big Tiny! Your birds are beautiful. Do you mind if I ask what you feed them?

Seed, carbohydrates (toast, cereal, weetbix), spinach, cucumber, carrot and beans are the main ones! I'm still experimenting with foods as the cockatiels are picky eaters. I also put a vitamin supplement in their water and provide them with shell grit and cuttle bone. My ringneck will just about try any food I give her which is good :)

I guess I got lucky, after six months of seed my cockatiel will try anything. She likes anything the quakers are having. Vegetables are her favorite.

My mom's rescued parakeet had a bacterial infection that took several weeks to clear up. She was also suffering from starvation. She started gaining grams as soon as the infection was gone. She's very healthy now. It looks like Tiny is really thriving.

Thanks sounds like a very similar experience to Tiny. She hasn't gained any more weight yet still sitting at 61g. I just bought some pellets today going to convert them from seed to pellet. Don't think they r going to be too happy! Lol
