Lonely budgie?

Lately, I've been lurking on my local craigslist quite a bit, checking out the pet section (got a nice big cage from someone on there awhile back). Thus far most of the bird ads I have seen haven't really been overly concerning, thank goodness. But this new one just makes me so sad: parakeet with cage
I really hope she gets lots of attention to make up for her poor barren cage, because the picture of her with her little mirror just makes me so . At least she does appear healthy physically - Do budgies ever become pluckers, out of boredom/loneliness? Do any of you have contented single budgies?

She looks healthy and very pretty. I wonder why they can't keep her. At least the cage looks somewhat clean, and there's a toy. Some of these photos show a filthy cage and no toys.

I hope she finds a good forever home though because she's a lovely little bird.

She DOES look healthy and clean. So pretty too, I'd take her in a heartbeat. It's funny you asked about parakeets and plucking because I have never seen a parakeet that was a plucker. My male parrotlet came to me badly plucking but thankfully I got him out of that habit, and I have seen some bad cases of plucking, but never in a parakeet.

She is absolutely beautiful! I would take her in a heart beat if I had the room. But I am currently saving up for flight cages for Bruno and Skittles.

I do have a single parakeet. Tinkerbell is 3 years old and I was recently given her by a friend. She had a second parakeet but she kept them separate because she didn't have a big enough cage for them to live comfortably together.

So Tinkerbell is used to being on her own. She has a nice size cage with 6 different perches and 8 different toys. She calls out to the other birds because she is quarantine. I would like for Tinkerbell and Bruno (possibly Skittles) to be housed in the same room after quarantine. That way they can see each other and communicate.

But so far Tinkerbell gets lots of attention and seems far from depressed. She is not a plucker *knock on wood*. So yes keets can be content alone. Though I do dream of the day I can get a bigger parakeet cage and possibly introduce a buddy for Tinkerbell. But that won't be for a long while unfortunately.

Thanks for the notes on your Tinkerbell, Fae. Sounds like you have a great setup for her. Heh, birds probably don't understand "quarantine" but it is for everyone's good!
