All,

I'm a week into this forum, soaking up all of the wonderful information many of you have given to me. When I first joined this forum I was on the ropes of either a Senegal or a Conure. Now my "allegiance" has changed and I am 110% sure that an Eclectus is the bird for me. It would fit my lifestyle to the "T".

So to all of you Eclectus parents or anyone that knows anything about them, are your likes and dislikes?

I've been doing quite a bit of research on them. And one of the main things I am concerned about is the diet.

Any info would be great! thank you!

I hear they can get nasty during hormone time, so be careful! I remember reading of a member who had the perfect Eclectus for years it would cuddle and go in the shower with her and everywhere and then he matured and no longer wanted to do the things he used to do. With the larger species like Eclectus when they mature they can get very ornery.

You'll want to avoid any petting of any kind along the back or under the wings. Head scratches only! Otherwise they get really worked up and can end up pleasuring themselves on your hand, their perches or just do it constantly to no end... lol.

I have a female Eclectus. I love her to bit.....

She is 14 months old, very sweet cutie pie, very talke active, no screaming, not yet.. NE??? :D :D :D

Perfect pet... but only one problem I have with her is that she is a very picky eater....

I have heard that male is quite a load screaming... NE?? I don't know since I don't have one.

We have a lot of members have Eclectus.. They will coming shortly to tell you all about their beloved ones. ;)

Also keep in mind- adult birds act very differently from babies.....so even a one-year old, you have a "baby"--- hormones kick in around 3 and that's a lot of times when people run into major trouble because their bird appears to have gone from sweet to a monster overnight...
