Seeking Advice on Bonding and Caring for My 45 Days Old Female Eclectus Parrot

My idea of a Perfect Job would be a professional Baby Bird Mama! I couldn't make any money at it, would never get more than three hours of uninterrupted sleep, and where would I get the fertile eggs? Then I'd be overrun with birds because I can't bear the thought of trusting a stranger to take care of my babies and never seeing them again!

You got a real cutie there! Give lots of verbal praise. It doesn't matter what you say. I read out loud from a book, crochet pattern, recipe. That will aid bonding. I know nothing about your breed. Go through the posts here about diet. Get her used to a healthy diet up front. Go through the posts about training. Use them for a good foundation. Decide what your ultimate goals are. Mine was for a parrot who enjoyed traveling, wouldn't mind me working in or out of home and wouldn't react negatively going to the vet. Pick a phrase to use. My three are I am going outside or sleep or work. Outside means out of sight but I can hear. Sleep means quiet time. Work means, I am not home. It didn't take long to get her acclimated. Get her used to a travel cage that you want to use. Consider harness training. There's pros and cons for using a harness. I use a harness for every outing. Even in travel carrier. There always seems to be a reason for opening carrier. A harness is a backup security. I am kinda paranoid about flyy aways. My 21 yo CAG loves going out. I take her out often, more in summer. She loves to people watch. Dogs, cats, or birds who doesn't react negatively to outings, no matter the purpose or duration are wonderful.

The little birb I was talking about in that post when she was 45 days old is now one year and one month old! My baby has grown up so well. I made sure from the beginning that her main diet consists of vegetables, fruits, and organic pellets.
Thank you so much for mentioning all the good habits I can get her used to. It honestly made me feel reassured that I’m on the right track.
She’s used to her carrier and has already gone on a three-hour road trip. I also harness-trained her, and today we went out for a walk. She stood there watching the cats and even called out to them saying “meow” 🤣
As for me not being home, it’s not an issue for her at all. Since she was little, she’s been used to me going to college from morning until noon and then coming back to her. When the sun sets, she goes back to her cage on her own and sleeps. She doesn’t like anyone disturbing her, so once she goes to sleep, I cover her cage.

I’m so happy to hear about your long experience! I wish you and your bird many more happy years together 🤍

Glad you're doing well. My CAG is a feathered neurotic dictator at lights out! I am asked firmly if I let the dogs outside and if I went to the bathroom. I am then told in a stronger voice to do them. Finally I get reminded in an exasperated tone to do them. Then she orders me to go to bed and then sleep. I and my daughter are in a minimum lights house, forbidden to read, crochet, watch TV or anything. Audio books on low or white noise machines are allowed. She's not fooling me. She absolutely is afraid that she will be left out of midnight snacks, store trips and more. I think she got that way on a trip to see my sister. She was potty training her grandson. That was the evening ritual. Her time was coincidentally just before Nameliss lights out time. We were only there 3 nights!
