lovebird ASBO!

a couple of weeks ago my lovebird escaped from her cage while the budgies were loose and bit one of the budgies feet. poor horatios (budgie) foot was black so took him to the vet and he said it was just a bad bruise, but this morning i noticed 3 toe nails missing. the blacks gone and it looks healed and he's using it ok. will he be ok without his nails?

Yes, he will be fine. The circulation was probably effected and caused the cuticles to die and nails to fall of. Birds can do fine without toes and even a missing foot. I know several birds with just stubs for both feet. Keep an eye on the toes. As long as they don't change color, he will be fine.

Sorry to hear about the incident, but feel a little better Saki is not the only houdini here.
