At least I think so.

She laid it in a place I canā€™t get to.
On this evening fly time it happened.
She would not come down from the upper play area (where her nest is).
we heard a lot of heavy panting/breathing. It would come in waves.
period of painting and then scratching with her feet With regular breathing.
we were all worried but no practical way to get to her.
instead of bringing in a ladder and scarring the birds we waited it out.
took 15-20 minutes before she came down.

I took down the box she was using as a nest and put it in the cage with them but.
I didnā€™t find an egg.
I am going to have to get up there sometime soon.

I donā€™t think the egg (if there IS an egg) would be fertile.
but it could be. I just donā€™t think Merlin knows HOW.

Hmm, congrats? šŸ˜

Never underestimate the power of a hussy. Did you send in Merlin's DNA? Obviously if there is a fertile egg, you know, but it may be worthwhile to know what to do in the future.

Boys and girls always figure things out šŸ˜‚

I have a special ladder on order from Amazon
should get here tomorrow.
then I can get up there and hunt for an egg.

Luna is still ā€¦ā€¦. Wanting Merlin to mate with her.
If she did/is laying eggs wouldnā€™t that cause her to not want to continue mating?

This is the Twins cageā€™s.
the box on the left side use to be on the landing above.

I donā€™t know what to call the area above the cages in an arcatectual sense but I call it the Upper Landing.

anyway if there is an egg itā€™s up there on the upper landing.
I had hoped to bring the egg down with the box but the box didnā€™t have a bottom anymore :ROFLMAO: .
Luna is not going into the box in itā€™s new location

I got a ladder if it an emergency.
but it would mean scarring Bella and the Cockatiels to bring it in and set up.
not worth it just to find an egg.
so am getting one of those new collapsible ladders that should not be so scary.

No egg.
none.
I donā€™t understand it.
what was she doing up there.
the only thing I can think of is if she was stuck.
If she got herself stuck she might struggle and pant.
But I have had stuck parrots before and they usually scream cuz they think something is going to eat them.

I know for sure she was inside the box (picture above) and I donā€™t think itā€™s possible to get stuck in.

at least I got a good indoor ladder..

And an answer šŸ˜

Good news!

Out of curiosity why does she have a nesting box?
Itā€™s just a cardboard box.

If I could find a nest box out of wood of appropriate size I would buy it.
I have found one for sale made out of metal but I canā€™t see using metal.

I would like for them to breed but I wonā€™t be broken hearted šŸ’” if it doesnā€™t happen.

So far Merlin just isnā€™t mating with Luna.
Itā€™s possible he did the deed and I missed it.
So because she hasnā€™t actually mated I didnā€™t expect her to lay eggs.
Dumb I know, hens can lay without a male birdā€™s attention.
we are thinking about removing the box to try to lower her hormones.

I have other birds that like playing in boxes but they are both male.

my cockatiel pair that had two clutches ended up nesting in a cardboard box.
they completely rejected the wooden nest box I bought at the pet store.

Ah ok. I didn't think you wanted babies. In that case, yeah it might be good to verify that Merlin is a boy šŸ˜.

Good luck šŸ˜
