Hi,

I want to get a baby macaw. Requesting if I could get some recommendations regarding breeders or pet stores which ship.

With such a great supply of older rescued Macaws. Take a long look at what is available in older established Macaws. Their long life near assure the baby will out live you. Older Parrots have transitioned beyond puberty and what you see is what you get, which is not assured with babies.

FYI: Let an Adult choose you! They are much better at it, than our 'wants.' Plus you are much further along the way in developing a Trust Bond.

Adopting a mature macaw with perhaps decades of life remaining is a grand gesture! If you are set on a baby, please seek one fully weaned from reputable source. I'm not familiar with any breeder of macaws even as I don't know your location. Best advice is word-of-mouth from people you trust. You will find various ads online or through other sources. Important to carefully research them before committing. One absolute giveaway of a spammer is if they offer fertile eggs in addition to adoptable live birds.

Thanks SailBoat and Scott.

Scott,

I am located in Portland, OR. Yes, I am inclined more towards a baby. Was hoping to get some recommendations from this forum.

A lot of times rescues require large bird experience when adopting a macaw, so if you've never had a large bird it can be difficult to adopt in this case.

I love baby macaws too!

I would start with birdbreeders.com who has a database of breeders all around the nation. That's how I had my male cockatiel (Ember) shipped to me as a baby froma reputable breeder from Oklahoma!
