The picture of health right there! Glad to know the price includes the food, which I'm guessing is a bag of peanuts. I always feel so horrible for those poor birds. There's been another female eclectus on the Houston craigslist for a while now. Poor thing is in a tiny basic petsmart parakeet cage, one dowel perch, no toys, nothing. But hey, at least they know she's not a macaw!

Eeek! That poor bird! Those feathers! I shudder to think what's going on in her body to cause that. That's why I can't look at the CL lists for parrots. I know you have to right now. I've been looking lately in my area of Texas too. Still, sad, poor, sick, lonely birds. :-(

Oh poor baby! Look at those fathers and that beak! You KNOW that is nutritional. I hope she finds a loving home.

It's red.....close enough.

I chuckled at this one. Yeah. You know, all parrots are macaws.

I was looking through CL since I found one about a tiel, and there was a guy trying to sell a couple of "Lovebirds". Food and all.

They were doves.

Since when the hell do doves look like lovebirds?

He/she was even feeding them a lovebird diet.

When you say suspicious do you mean like they are posting a wrong pic with intent to deceive and the bird they have is actually a macaw, like yours?

B/C if I was in your situation with the lost friend that's how my mind would work.

Who feeds their bird a bowl of peanuts everyday? What is this, a cartoon?
I hope that they sell to an experienced and knowledgeable person. :(

I saw one the other day that said the Eclectus was a good starter bird.

no. They think an eckie is a macaw....

Uuuummm.... How did you come to be in possession of this bird if you haven't a clue what it even is.

And feeding a diet sensitive bird THAT diet, WILL kill it. So this person clearly has NO CLUE about Eckies.

(Which aren't exactly cheap, or found all over the place.)

That screams found/stolen to me...

God forbid someone is feeding Maggie a diet of dollar store sunflower seeds!

I get why you would chuckle at that in a sarcastic way...

But right now I have absolutely NO sense of humor when it comes to this stuff... I'd like to punch this person right in the mouth for what he is doing to this bird. Which I suspect isn't even his!

Eckies run about $1000 - ish.

No way you pay that kind of money thinking you're buying a macaw! It just doesn't happen...

And these are diet sensitive birds. Feeding them that stuff will do all sorts of chronic damage...

IDIOTS!!!

This is why I can't force myself to even look at CL anymore. I can't be a shelter but I want to run out and rescue every case like this I see.....and if I did I'd have a house full of parrots and a pissed off ex-wife.....

While that CL ad for a "macaw" is disgraceful, the diet that poor Ekkie is eating is beyond disgusting.

Same here. Other day on Portland CL there was a female blue front. I came this>< close to bringing Kiwi home a girlfriend. I was looking for something unrelated in the pets section but it's almost impossible NOT to click on every parrot ad and look. It's like seeing a bad car crash and not being able to look away:(

I honestly believe someone has Maggie... and after the way she's lived... I shudder to think what they are feeding her, and how they are treating her...

Someone like THIS may have her!!! IN A FRIGGIN' DOG CRATE OR SOMETHING... feeding her wild bird seed.

Yes, as a matter of fact I am cracking up... Why do you ask?

Definitely understand that. I'm the same way with rats. Saw a post for a rehoming where they were housing one with a guinea pig in a 20 gal tank with cedar shavings and about dashed out to save it. (Rodents have horrible respiratory systems.)

And sorry, Mark. Didn't mean to upset you.

Aww, this breaks my heart for this bird. I agree, this little eckie doesn't look healthy at all. So Sad :(
