I have a male yellow sided green cheek conure. He hatched in the spring of either 2020 or 2021. My youngest son was diagnosed recently with asthma and allergies bird allergy. I didn’t even know people could be allergic to birds before that.
The bird’s name is Wiwi. He is generally chill (but not very playful) unless he’s being hormonal. When he’s hormonal he tends to bite. I very rarely get bitten though.
He’s had only minimal training but at bedtime he knows to come to me to go into his cage, and he knows to step onto my hand when it’s presented. (I don’t do that when he’s hormonal though because he’s moody.)
He’s accustomed to being out of his cage a lot m. He eats pellet food that he dunks in water, and he loves “sweet peppers” which is like his favorite food. He also likes carrot peels, and strawberry seeds more than the actual fries. He loooves apples and apple peels.
He’s a menace in the kitchen because he tries to eat the butter if it’s out or whatever meat im preparing. I’m constantly having to shoo him away and cover things im using.
The vet said he was very healthy and had a healthy beak. He gets stressed if there’s a lot of loud stuff going on and will scream. He also screams when he hears water boiling or oil frying. He chews on everything and that’s my fault because I don’t know how to train him not to.
He’s a good boy who loves to cuddle. He likes to perch on my hand and lay down and tuck his beak between my fingers. He loves a good head scratch but doesn’t like his pin-feathers messed with. He’s a good has a dish i bathe him in and seeing it excites him. I turn the kitchen sink onto a nice temperature to drizzle down into the dish and he showers and bathes. I set the dish up onto a pot or bowl or something to lift it up.
Located in Arkansas. I can give the cage as well but it’s kind of big and homemade.
