My ma passed away July 2012: leaving me to complete her dream, and so far I know I have successfully done her proud and have found many joys in doing so. I have, for many years now, a Sevier Macaw, and a African Gray. When my ma found her way to me, not knowing her for 20 years, & now homeless in 1998, and happily taking her in, we built her a cabin on our place. She was so happy, especially when I too bought her a SunConure for companionship. Just before ma made her journey home, she spoke of wanting an aviary of parakeets - just like her stories she told of her dad once had. I bought her two to help start her dream. (I now have parakeets coming out my ears !) I love them all. I too have now began my dream with ma- I am retired and have a breeding pair of Blue & Golds --- and also now a 8wk old youngin' I have been handfeeding since he was 10 days old. I also have a breeding pair of Scarlett's Macaws. We turned Ma's cabin into our "Ma's-Caws Aviary". Ma died of the nasty cancer at age 73... But I see her everyday in the health of her birds and our dreams. I cook for the birds and they have all they need at Ma's-Caws Aviary and home.
I am so glad I am here to share what I can, and may even need help myself at times. Thank you for letting me share my story... I am sooo busy once again, and still very needed by all my birds,.... just as when I was happily and lovingly taking care of ma. i think Ma has made sure of this so I wouldn't be lonely without her- and I still see her daily in her home and her and I am happy once again!! I love you Ma ! Miss you awful ! It's sure has been a long hard journey. Fly now ma.... We both now have our wings!

That's such a beautiful way to remember her. :)

Oh how touching a tribute to your Ma. :greenyellow:

Welcome to the forum. I look forward to hearing more about your aviary in your Ma's cabin. It sounds awesome! :D

I have 10 parakeets, all grown. I keep mine in a large flight cage, but I don't offer them any nest boxes as I just love to see them as a flock & listen to their pleasant sing songs. Good luck with your baby macaw. Pictures would be very muchly appreciated. :red1:
