Alright so I have a massive screened in back porch that we use for absolutely nothing so I am going to turn it into an aviary. It's all hard wood so it will be easy to spray off and clean. And I will substitute the screen for some type of aviary net or mesh. My only problem with using the back poach is that it had a really high ceiling and I'm afraid that goose will find a way to get stuck up there. Goose isn't flighted but I would like for both goose and my future Amazon to be flighted and really be able to burn some energy out there. Also do you guys recommend using PVC pipe to build a jungle gym for the birds and hang perches and toys or is that not safe .

Should I take a pic of he porch for you guys

Hi in principle sounds really nice thing for you to do for your birds. Wish I had a porch to do the same.

Not knowing how big this porch is and taking in the high ceiling height mentioned, you could insert an aviary into this space, using aviary mesh panels It would give extra security also as no doors leading directly outside. The other train of thought is if you ever want to move house you just take the panels down and you have the porch back again. Not every house buyer wants an aviary in their porch LOL.

Enclose link of our new supporting vendor for info and to show what I mean. You never know they may give members a discount? http://www.piperspetpalace.com/index.php

Please use several different sizes/types of perches for the aviary to achieve good health in your birds feet. Sometimes just a cut branch from a non toxic tree with some leaves on will give a bird it's own natural play gym.

Please show us your finished product and good luck with it.

PVC rocks! You can do most anything with it. Just don't glue any of it, that way you can easily reconfigure as you get ideas!

There are many PVC projects in this forum.
Also, look into SS portable shelving. Multiple sizes, many have wheels. easy to configure any which way.
Christmas tree stand holding a hunk of tree!

Congratulations, what a great project! The height situation may be helped by hanging a thin mesh material to create a false ceiling in the area. I first noticed this at a local avian sanctuary that has birds outside in a large area covered with this mesh-like material. In their case it also helps keep the raptors OUT!

Of course the problem is that Goose may be attracted to the overhead material and attempt to chew.
