Lutino Budgie - Otto
Hi all,
if you read previous posts I'm struggling with health issues. ( mini stroke, wheel chair bound, POTS and CRPS) My doctor and home health nurse, therapist, social worker have determined it's not safe for me to be at home alone because of falls and difficulty caring for myself.
So they're trying to get me in a long term care facility. If I can't have Otto there, would it be best to re-home him permanently with maybe his Dr if she'd take him ( she loves him) ? or sacrifice his out of cage time and let my family care for him while I'm away. My family will not bring him out of his cage or go through a lot of trouble fixing him chop etc. They have 3 dogs, a dachshund, 2 Aussies and 1 female untamed budgie.
I am hoping I can bring him with me but wanted to get other opinions too if I can't .Ottos health and happiness is my number one priority! Being separated from him for anytime would be heartbreaking but i want what is best for him, I'm just not able to control my health atm.
Thanks y'all.

Do you have someone, like his doctor, who might be willing to do long term fostering? Where they take him in with the understanding that whenever you are able to live at home on your own again you would like him back? Personally, I feel like a budgie who is used to getting out of cage time would struggle being locked up all the time ( though I totally understand doing that for safety reasons). I’m so sorry you are going through this and I really hope you can take him with you. Continued prayers for your health ❤️

I never thought about fostering! Great idea! I can ask, she's ( Dr) supposed to call me when she's available. She was out sick the last 2 days.

How sad for both you and Otto! Do any PF members live anywhere near you that could foster him? We would like to help.

I'm not sure about where folks on here are located. I'm in Northern Virginia, USA. I think you said, you're in Maine.
I'm hoping I can bring him with me or his Dr will foster him since I know her well.

Otto belongs with you if at all possible. Your Dr is okay too. I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. If all fails with your options my husband and I drive to new jersey a lot. Northern VA isn't that much farther. We could pick him up and foster him for you and return him when you can take him back. He would be very well cared for.

I just talked to my husband who also loves Otto from your posts and he said he would drive down and get Otto and foster him "in a heartbeat". Of course he would be bettervwith you. Could your Dr or someone else bring Otto to the facility to visit you?
