So since we're self quarantine and no place to take my birds out....I let them grow their flight feathers and now they are both flippy flappy around whenever there is a noise that they don't like but they still fly back to me...this I like.

One thing I noticed is I know both birds are left handed...like with food but both seem to prefer right flightfeathers over left flight feathers. You know just, hanging out folded in.

I can use my fingers and swap them around and they don't care, but by default it's right over left.

Interested if anyone else has noticed a pattern.....

Yes, our fully (indoor flighted) Amazon will do that when he elects to maximize his flight time. My 'belief' is that it is tied to an energy level and clearly a dominate side.

Clearly my opinion of you is correct -- your highly observant as the vast majority of owners barely notice that their parrot is 'footed.' Way to be!

I'll have to check..
On my birds that were allowed flight feather during growth the wings don't cross. Only the babies that had feathers clipped before full growth have crossed wings. So Neptune us my only crossed wings feathers.
It's so important during development to have flight feathers , and to fledge and fly..
Before choosing to clip.

Ok just checked, Neptune does cross right over left.

Not for nothing this IS interesting, I wonder if any do left over right and if that parrot eats with their right hand or talon.

Hmmm, I do believe that at some point the recent past, there was a poll that ask if one's Parrot was right or left footed...

Syd crosses right over left and always holds things in his right foot, but often sleeps with his left foot tucked up. He tends to fly clockwise too!

Actually my birds jump scare into counter clockwise but I think that is due to the room dynamics and finding the right landing path.
