Parrots
i am the mom of three parrots:
Dorothy- African grey (cag)
Bowie- blue and gold macaw
Nellie- hyacinth macaw
Reggie- hyacinth macaw
Marnie- white bellied caique
I have posted earlier that I have been thinking of adding one more bird to my flock. My front runner was a hawk head parrot however I have been hearing that as they get older they become even more temperamental than amazons. I have also been considering a galah or my new obsession a mealy amazon. I have met a mealy at my breeders and I do like him quite a bit. They don't breed them and I have to say that they are near impossible to find! I am wondering if anyone has any experience with them or knows of any reputable breeders that might have babies in the future.

The best person to ask maybe Henpecked.

I would say go for a Zon, but then I am bias lol

Just because we love our zons wendz lol but yes I would ask henpecked he is the pro on this species of bird I love the imperial amazon its colours are beautiful I'm not sure about its ability to mimic but its size and colours stand out beautifully also I have never seen one kept as a pet but there's a first for everything our days lol

I know nothing first hand, but I have a friend who has one. She says he's fairly mellow but mischievous. Good choice, I really love them too!

I have pm'd henpecked, would love to have one of his babies however not sure he has anymore available. I love the idea of a mealy, love the size the demeanor etc.

All amazons are beautiful from the yellow nape to the blue fronted and so on if you feel a mealy zon is the one for you I hope you get along great I'm more for the blue front zon but that's just me :)

Yeah ,i know a couple of good Mealy breeders down this way. Want some contact info? I don't mind getting babies and handfeeding them out if you wish. My wife ,Josie is the best with baby zons.

Henpecked, I would love contact info. What's your take on the Mealy's?

Kevin at Dutch Hill Aviary , he knows me as "henpecked" from another forum. Tell him i sent you. You can goggle Dutch Hill Aviary. Howard Voren at voren.com he only knows me as Richard, but i visit his place and consider him a friend. Howard usually sells his birds to a broker before they are weaned so if you want one from him ,tell him i'll handfeed it out for you, he also has true panamas among many, many other zons.(must have about 20 subspecies). He doesn't normally sell to the public but i think we can talk him into it. There are some others around but i don't know them personally. Birds show around here in the spring/summer have lots of baby zons for sale at a cheap price ,so wait till then is a good choice too. Let me know if you need more.
