WARNING: I WILL NOT tolerate ANY debate about me having these issues. Who knows, I may not be autistic, or have Tourette's (I know I have ADHD, though), but I am the only person on this entire site who knows my whole backstory, my young-childhood, the extent of my symptoms, and my struggle. Having people tell me I don't have something based off of a couple thousand internet posts (mostly about parrots) is not helpful. Also, please no saying ADHD is made up or caused by something totally stupid, like WiFi, autism is caused by vaccines, you were working too hard back in your day to have any issues (says my dad who has a VERY high probability of having ADHD), etc. Thank you!

Welp, someone might find this interesting (I know I would if I were someone else... as selfish as it sounds I love hearing about people's medical stuff, so this is for nerds like me, I guess), and this will kind of be like a diary, or something someone may relate to.

So, I guess I'll start with the physical stuff. I have Patellar Tracking Disorder (PTD) and Dancers Hip (DH), which both make my knee and hip joints pop/dislocate pretty frequently... so not fun. I mean, I've had both since about 3rd/4th grade, so I've learned to live with them, but they can be incredibly painful (especially the dislocations- ouch!). This means I can't do some things other kids can, such as running on an uneven surface, and I can run on concrete, but it's quite uncomfortable. I wear my knee brace sometimes, especially right after dislocations, when my knee is at a high risk of dislocating again. The pain from a minor dislocation generally lasts about 2 days, and I have one every 2 months or so. The DH popping/minor dislocations happen about twice a week.

Now for the mental stuff. I am in the process of getting formally diagnosed with ADHD, and I suspect I may be autistic as well, but ADHD and autism are 2 VERY similar disorders with a HUGE symptom overlap (interestingly enough, many people with both disorders say ADHD is worse), so I'll treat the ADHD first, then see if I still have symptoms of autism. I have a psych appointment in late June, so fairly soon. I'm also possibly getting a Tourette's Syndrome (TS) diagnosis along with that (I've had fluctuating moderate-severe tics for about 3 years, and been diagnosed with a tic disorder). I'm pretty used to living with this stuff, but I really need ADHD treatment, as it's only gotten worse over the years, and made it impossible to function even somewhat normally.

This isn't a vent, or anything, I have been living with my experiences for upwards of 4 years (for the PTD, DH, and possible Tourette's), or my whole life (for the ADHD and possible autism). I'm used to it, and working to improve myself every day!

Oh Ollie, I am so sorry that you have to deal with any of this. I pray that a diagnosis that will help your mental health will at least ease part of that burden.
What is the prognosis for the things that are affecting you physically? I hope there is a treatment down the road that will take your pain away.

I may need surgery to fix my knees if they get very bad (the more they dislocate, they more likely they are to dislocate again), but that would probably be as a young adult. For now, I have knee braces, and I'm going to a specialist if my knees get worse. Honestly, it's just something I live with. I don't think about it too much, I just try to live my life to the fullest.

I admit you a bit that you want to talk about it. Once time I've created a post on another forum about my mental problems but it was just because I was mentally too weak... I was literally crying and needed a bit of help... Later (after I felt mentally better) I wrote to the admin to delete that thread and I have never created such post again.

Roz, there is no weakness in reaching out for help, in fact I think it took a lot of strength for you to do that. I admire that you were able to do that.

I'm confused lol. Anyhow, if you're calling me selfish, yes and no. I just like hearing about people's medical stuff, so I made this (which I probably won't be updating). You were strong to reach out, and I hope the best for you!

I should probably become a doctor since I like hearing about people's medical issues so much...

I think I'm gonna delete this. I think that, idk, some people think talking about physical/mental health is shameful? I don't want to start a fight or make people uncomfortable.

No, no I don't call you selfish. Somehow I like hearing about other people's mental health but I prefer to not write too much about myself - however here on PF I am the most opened, I'm not so afraid of talking about my private life. Actually now I'm having another hard time but I don't need such help like 3 years ago. At least yet.

No need to debate about stuff that are either obviously false or have been disproved multiple times. I don't agree with those stuff.

You know yourself better than any other person.

I'm a nerd too, so I'll find this interesting :)

I never heard of either of those conditions, I'll have to look them up! Thanks for making me aware.

Just a misunderstanding, then! I also like hearing about people's mental health, oddly.
