This is my new U2 Monu (Monu means bird in another language) He is 7 years old and I am his third home. His first home he lived in another country with a couple who traveled around lot and bought him as a baby then they moved to the US and a few years later his owner died. His second home hes been in about a year this owner was too busy for him but was very sad to see him go. Now as of tonight hes with me and I will be his last home!! He was vet checked recently and is in perfect health though he does need a diet change as all he was eating was nutriberry cakes and fruits/veggies. I thought it was really cool I saw a rainbow (I havent seen one in forever) brining him home! I am so excited to have him I LOVE him already :D Tomorrow Im going to the petstore for some toys and I am ordering him new food and toys now.

the rainbow on the way home.

Very cool! Good luck with your new bird--- I recently adopted a 17 yo U2 as well and am /at least/ his 3rd home. Prior to coming to live with us he was in a sanctuary for 8 years, and who knows what he did in the 9 years before that.

Congrats on the new u2!!! :)

congrats Nocturnal!! :)
and thanks Mikey and Sandy

So cool Marcia !!! I remember your posts on trying to decide [macaw or 2 [I think] ] Any Umbrella ive met has been a doll . Can wait to hear all about him and what made you decide to choose him!! Nice rainbow ! Congrats and good luck to you :)

Thank you! and yea I was trying to decide and I am very happy with my decision! Even though I was not intending on a U2 LOL I was gonna get one a bit more manageable oh well :P someone found my wanted bird post and replied and I just had to go meet him and when I got there he was so sweet and adorable I spent 40 minutes with him before I brought him home.

Great , sometimes life happens like that.:) Maybe you had 2 on the brain. I thought I talked to you about one you were going to take in that was in need [thought it was a umbrella].Awhile ago.

Monu the destroyer!! He has already destroyed part of his playgym :P

thank you :) I did consider upgrading but he is out of his cage for at least 5 hours a day so I thought it was ok?? And I Love your birds they are all gorgeous!! The signature pic looks so pretty with them all like that :)

Thank you!
I don't know, I personally think ANY cage is technically too small for a bird. ;) So, the rule of thumb is *generally* the bigger the better. A bigger cage offers so many more opportunities for play areas and toys for the other 19 hours of the day. I used to have that cage for the bare-eyed too I fostered, and I found it to be way too small for her. I have a 40" x 30" one for my rose-breasted and I think it's adequate but I still want to upgrade as soon as I can.
I actually think the cage you have is awesome for small birds since it has 1/2" bar spacing. Maybe if you upgrade you can give it to one of your other fids!

thanks for the idea now when I get some more money ill be upgrading :P And I am sure my Lorikeet would love that big cage!

Congrats on your new addition. Very beautiful bird.
