Blue and Gold Macaw Harley Quinn (FKA Harvey) Adopted 11/24/2015 @ 15 years old
So as you guys mostly know, I have had Davy since June of this year. We are making huge progress and he is my baby boy. When you have a parrot, you often get people offering you parrots. A friend of a friend wants me to take a 15 year old Blue and Gold.

Now I don't want to ruin my progress with Davy, and I want him to be happy. B&G's are my dream bird . . . and it is all I can do not to jump and and down and scream yes I will take her. I am going to meet her on Thursday (Nov 5th). And see if she even likes me, but I am also afraid he is going to just give her away or sell her to anyone.

Any advice?

Yeah,,, that's problem when you travel in parrot circles. You're preaching to the choir.

So we went to meet her. She LOVES my boyfriend! Didn't take to me at all, wouldn't even take a treat. She likes the husband who has her now, and barely tolerates the wife. Now I am sure I can win her over but if I get her she will be my bf's bird. So now he is asking for money. $900 for her and the cage, which isn't totally 7 reasonable. But I won't have the money for a week or more. He is willing to wait. I just have to decide if I can handle the bird of my dreams being my bf's soul mate . . .

THAT'S AN OVERBONDING ISSUE.

HE'S OVERBONDED WITH THE MAN OF THE HOUSE, AND HAS READILY TRANSFERRED THAT BOND TO YOUR BOYFRIEND.

WITH YOUR BOYFRIEND'S HELP DO THE DISFAVORED PERSON TRAINING...

THEN SOCIALIZE, SOCIALIZE AND MORE SOCIALIZATION WORK, PREFERABLY IN A ROOM WHERE THERE IS NO TESTOSTERONE PRESENT, AND A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF ESTROGEN... i.e. invite the girlfriends.

Birdman, so you believe there is hope that she could be happy with both of us? As I will be the primary caretaker, she has to at least let me near her cage, and I will have to be able to hold her, move her around etc. I am sure I can find girlfriends to help get her used to estrogen lol. Right now getting her is still up in the air. I don't have $900 bucks he wants for her, thought I should know in a week if I will be getting some money to help me through the rest of my school year . . .

Yes, I get what you mean now by MSB club. If we do end up bringing this B&G into the family, her and Davy will be it until we can move into a bigger house. (famous last words, eh?)

So we should be picking Harvey (they thought she was a boy when they named her) by next weekend. I am way nervous about having two birds in the house. My boyfriend is so very excited about her. She is 15 and first lived with a woman with a lot of birds, who sold her to the family I will be getting her from. She was okay with the original owner, but very bonded with the husband of the second. She has very little toys, and viciously attacks her "favorite toy" when it is brought out.

I am sure I will be picking everyone brains to make this the best possible home for everyone. I really want to make sure Davy is safe.
