Do you think it would be safe for a parrot to play with one of these as a foraging toy? I have a mini one that we had for when my dog was a puppy but now it's way too small for her. I would of course thoroughly clean it to get rid of any bacteria.

This is what I'm talking about:

I say go for it, but am waiting for folks that know what they are talking about to chime in!

I've never heard of a problem with them. If pieces get chewed off, make sure you see them in the bottom of the cage, and not in droppings! These things can be hard to clean, but you sound like a conscientious person. :)

Good for you for asking! Let's see if anybody else has thoughts.

Good luck!

I just saw a mini size dog Kong at the bird store! It was in the bin with the young cockatiels. I’ve heard of them used as bird toys before. Of course you know as long as the dog saliva is off.

Finally got around to doing this, cleaned it thoroughly and stuffed it with almonds, he loves it!

Salty loves his.I used to put a peanut in it, but new stuff it with walnuts. He beats it up to get them all.

Lincoln will go at it for awhile then take a nap then go at it again and rinse and repeat xD keeping him out of my hair so I can have some gaming time xD
