Amy a Blue Front 'Zon
Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
This Sunday, Jonesy will be with me for two weeks. I think its time to try and get him to bathe.

I asked his p.o. how he went about it. He used to "punish" Jonesy with a misting bottle when he got out of control.
I figure if I showed him a bottle,he is going to freak out and wonder what the heck he did to get punished. :o

So I want to try something different. I was thinking of putting him on the sink board and have a trickle of lukewarm water from the faucet. I remember years ago when I had Wally, the 'keet, he LOVED bathing that way. As soon as he saw the faucet dribbling he'd immediately fly to the sink and have himself a blast!

I was also thinking of a shallow bowl on top of his cage,or placing him in the shower.

Suggestions please?

Thanks!!
Jim

Can't hurt to try any and all bathing methods. My mac hates baths and the only thing she tolerates is if we get in the shower with her. I make a game out of it and act all excited.

well I tried the shower thing...geez he hated that idea. I didn't have one of those "stick-it-to-the-wall" thingies,so I put him on the floor of the bath tub. He tried to climb the shower curtain...poor 'lil guy.

I guess the next attempt will be the sink faucet..

My girl throws a screaming fit if I take a shower without her but I raised her that way. Place your Too on the shower rod or preferably the top of a hard shower stall. Put some loud classic Rock and Roll on and start dancing and flapping while you take a shower. Offer to let the Too step up. Don't force it. When it does praise it and put it back on the stall. Don't try to get it wet yet. Just do that first couple of days then slowly move it closer to the spray each time before putting it back on the stall. In a week the Too will be on its way. BTW I have one of those perches and Aerial hates it. Much prefers the top of the stall so she can fly back and forth between her portable perch and my shoulder.

My Alex was also punished with a mister bottle, and was absolutely terrified of water. It took him several months, but after watching the other birds getting misted, he has finally learned to love it..hopefully Jonesy will soon learn to love baths as well.

Amy just loves the misting bottle. She throws her arms out as far as she can,and turns her head this way and that, shaking it,wiggling her tail.
