This morning I got up, Buddy comes out, gets on my shoulder and we are having great cuddle time. Lately he goes for my hair clip trying to pull it out of my hair but this morning he grabbed my earring, started chewing it, I grabbed his beak putting my finger in his beak yelling "Drop it, drop it!" like I do with Canelo. Suddenly I don't feel the earring and the crunching stops. Husband and I start searching for the earring, on all fours, Buddy watching from his cage, I put him back in before the search started. We find nothing, I look at Buddy and ask him "did you eat the earring?", he looks at me, pins his eyes and says very sweetly, "Hello." PUNK!!!!!! I call the vet, get dressed, Husband is saying I don't need to and I explain to him how an earring can do damage if swallowed and how people come in that swallowed their tongue rings require surgery because the post cuts internally due to how it travels through the body. Husband keeps searching and FINDS THE EARING!!!!!! YAY!!!!! It's been mangled courteousy of Buddy and I've removed my other earring for the brat. Husband said that was the calmest panic he's ever seen. So no more earrings with Buddy around, I'm glad it was just a scare and a lesson learned since Buddy is showing his true self. I asked him what happened to saying "uh oh" like he kept doing the day before, this was a great time for "uh oh" not "hello".

Agh! You had me holding my breath and there for a minute, I wanted to stop reading! I am so glad your husband found the mangled earring on the outside of Buddy before you had to search the inside of Buddy.

I had to laugh at the, Hello, Punk! Sorry you have to give up jewelry around Buddy.

Oh, that naughty Buddy! Glad he's ok though. Now if you'd only give a sparkly feather clip or something, he'd leave your jewelry alone;)

OMG, I am so relieved. That woke me up better than coffee, lol! Buddy is all happy, singing and making his sounds in his cage, head buried in his food bowl. When Canelo was about 7 months old, I tried to swallow an entire chicken breast. I was standing at the kitchen sink, the breast fell off the counter from the plate. I saw that it had fell and let him have it not realizing that he would inhale it like a Hoover. I hear weird songs turn and find him convulsing, foam coming from his mouth, I yell "he's not breathing!!!" Husband runs in, I'm trying to pick 60 lb Canelo up by his back legs to hang him upside down, didn't want to sweep his mouth and risk pushing it in further. Talk about adrenaline, husband and I did the heimlich and the chicken came out. The rest of the night Canelo stuck by me very subdued. I try to keep up with learning emergency issues and how to respond with pets but the scare factor is the worse. Canelo is my first dog that will just swallow and not taste. Buddy I see now that he's loosening up and coming out of his shell is going to be another to keep VERY close tabs on. And he's still a punk! LOL

So glad your husband found the earring and Buddy didn't eat it. I gave up on earrings and necklaces shortly after I brought Cisco home...lol.

I'm so glad it all worked out, whew! The chicken story had me lol!
