Harry budgie
Oh boy, oh boy. Tomorrow Mr. FedEx is bring Harry a much larger cage. I plan to place the two cages side by side with open food dish doors facing each other. I will hang the food dish right under the door of the new cage and hopefully he'll move within the day.
Any experience or suggestions in this dept.?

Millit!!! Hang millit in new cage. So exciting! But I'd let him look at it for a day or two first.
When are we going to see pictures of Harry?? :)

I there is no way you can handle the bird...just put the cages against each other in a "kissing" position (open door to open door)

You can even build a small bridge/ tunnel (cardboard) if there is a large gap and you are worried about him going somewhere else.

Here is a pic of Harry.

I already planned on the budgie tunnel as the old cage has a roof overhang so the cages can't kiss.

If there is room it's good to let him see the cage for a few days.
Then move some of his toys from his old cage to his new cage to make him get the idea he has a new home.

The cages I have ordered had to be assembled (sigh). Seeing all the commotion of putting a new cage together can also cause upset and make him Leary of entering it.

Try not move him right away as it best to let him see the new cage for a couple of days in front of him and then move it closer, so won't stress him out and slowly start moving toys over and hang spray millit and put some on the floor of the cage as well. It will lure him. Since you stated you can't have cages kissing, better to make a tunnel. Hopefully he want to explore and go right over.
