This is Hesper, My Sun conure. I got him since he was only 20 days old in the beginning of May. And now he's Two months old, almost fully feathered. I have no idea conure can grow up that fast, since my Alexandrine took quite some time to grow up.
Here is Hesper when he was 25 and 50 days old

And here he is again, this morning, enjoy a sun bath

I was a bit confusing since he shows no signs of yellow feather on the wings. I did think he was a Sunday, or maybe even Jenday. But then I found a tiny yellow patch on his shoulders :), I'll love him all the same no matter what though. :)

Oh wow Hesper is a really beautiful baby. I hope you share your photos regularly with us :) You take amazing pictures!

Thanks for your kind words.
But I don't think I take "amazing pictures". It's just, my parrot are getting used to having me taking photo of them all the time, so they won't bother much, hence everything is easier for me. Oh and some of them, as Hesper, are very photogenic and very good at posing too.
Look at him at the very young age:

and now:

He's always a confident little thing. Always look straight at me and the camera with a smirk on the face. :)

LOL!! Haha you're right! Look at his posing and facial expressions! :D I think Hesper is just a natural model ;)

He's adorable. :)

Beautiful pictures and bird!!

Hesper looks like a sun conure to me!

Unless pied, sun conures don't start to color up until their first molt.

Awww...BEAUTIFUL!!

Thank you guys. :)
I let them out to the garden after a rain this afternoon.
Look how Hesper loves playing with water, even though his big papa doesn't like the idea of a wet parrot, much.

What a beauty! Although I called my Sassy Ann a Sun Conure she was actually a Sunday hybrid and was similar in coloration as yours. You are going to love him no matter what he is! Congratulations!

Awww, how precious! Hesper is sooooo cute. Congrats on your adorable new addition. :)

Love your photos. Both the birds are beautiful. The little downy baby pics are cute!!

Re: My baby Sun conures

I have two suns, I have not had them sexed yet, can't bring myself to cut their toenail, But I think I got it close anyway. I have a few questions and need honest answer to them if you have an idea. I got them at 4 weeks and they are just over 10 weeks. They can fly like little jets. I just could not stand the thought of one or both of them getting out the door and being cat food. I had their feathers clipped a little yesterday. The Girl (Lucie) can still fly up to about 4 feet high & 15 feet, He (Kotie) can only get to the floor safely, Well Cotie now just wants to sit on my shoulder, he was the sweetest of the two, but they are both just heart breakers. I what them to just love me as much as I love them but he need to be a little independent of me to go eat and play and he rather sit on me! It sorta hurt me to have their wings cut but as I said, I didn't want the to be cat food. I have had suns in the distance past and the first was a Female that I got at about 7 weeks old that I finished weaning. She didn't want much to do with anybody else but me, she flew around the house to find me. And on my shoulder she sat. I have tried all kinds of foods and they seems to only like apple and corn at this time. Their main food is Kaytee Rainbow Exact. They don't care for seeds and that is the way I like it and plan to keep it. Help with anything would be welcomed. Cotie does this little head bobble up and down sometimes, what does that mean? It's like it is so happen that is all he can think of to do, dance?:rainbow1:

First of all, about having their wings clipped: People've been talking and fighting over that for years and years and years. You shouldn't feel bad if you choose to clip your parrot or not. Just one thing, if you choose to clip a bird, then you have to make sure that the surroundings are absolutely, perfectly safe for a flightless bird; because there's not much different between 'being cat food' and 'being stepped on'. The goal is to make the bird safe, don't forget to tell yourself that. And you may want to make sure they actually know how to fly and land properly before you clip them, it'll help avoid lots of accident in the future.
about weaning, well, not all the bird weans at the same time. Just like hman, they will wean when they decide that they want to do it, when they're ready, mentally and health. So you don't need to rush that. Make sure you have them got used to all kind of fruits and seeds as toys in their first weeks of life and everything's fine. As for now, i think you should just enjoy the moments they love to spend with you and not anybody else. Oh, and try to avoid the one-person bird. Have them being handed by different people would be great. :)

A good diet, if you must choose pellet, should contain 60-70% of pellet, and the rest are seed mix and veggies and fruits. :)

bobbling head up and down may be the sign of begging for food. Check Cotie's crop to see if he's been having enough food or not. If you think he has enough food but still does that, check his dropppings and if anything's wrong, bring him to the vet asap.

That's all I can say, hope it helps. :orange:

Best regards.
Hoang.

Hey guys, just want to post an update about Hesper.
Here he is today, begins to eat on his own, but not much, so I still have to keep the morning and night feed. :)
