My Cockatiel's bruised nail

my budgie had a black nail, took him to the vet and they said it was a bruise. since then the nail has come out completely, he's fine though, just missing a nail! x

My conure is missing a nail at the back just one is all, it's way shorter than the rest of his nail never thought anything of it. May I ask What does it mean when a bired is "pied"?

A standard-colored cockatiel will have all gray nails and (after first molt) a gray beak. Many of the color mutations cause pink nails and for the "juvenile" pink beak to be retained into adulthood.

Pied is a color mutation that causes white spots or splotches in places where a standard cockatiel is solid gray. Cockatiels with a pied mutation can have some nails pink and some nails gray.

That's all if I remember correctly... it's been a few years since I did my reading on color mutations.

out of my six tiels 4 have pinkish nails and my 2 greys have blackish nails have been this way since I got them. the youngest is 6 oldest is 16. My pieds and lutinos oh and cinnamon pearl have the pink nails and my grey and grey pearl have the dark nails all are healthy.

Thank you for clearing that up Lryl (:, I see that this is common amoung Fids and with all of them being healthy and all, that there is nothing wrong with the nails, But can it be due to lack of pigment or calcium maybe fiber?
