Today I took a ride with my son to the refuge to get supplies, food, toys, and things for Tucker. As always, there were people about to talk bird stories with, so it's a nice break after a long week of work. Once I had picked out all the things I wanted, and about to check out, I asked if Baxter had found a home yet. Sadly, only one possible new family, but they decided to wait since they were going to be moving in a few months and didn't want to upset her. Personally, I think she would be happier to have a home, a family of her own, even if the surroundings change, but I guess that's just me.

So, since she's still there, I had to visit with her for a little while. Remember, this is the one who, being very particular, only allowed women with short hair, and at that, only select ones. For this reason, she's been there for over a year. I don't get it, she's wonderful!

She was a little standoffish for a minute or two, being that she was napping when they brought her out, but then climbed up on my shoulder and didn't want to leave. Soooooo snuggly! She pulled out all the stops, let me tell you. I'm afraid she really wants to come home with me. We'll, not that afraid. Guess I'll have to go visit some more, and make up my mind. She makes it hard to say no...

My son told me not to let Tucker see these pictures or he'd be jealous. Is there enough of me to go around for two fids?

Nice photo of Baxter. Look at that expression on her face. She likes you. If you want to keep all your options open, maybe you should put down a deposit on her?

It looks to me like Baxter has chosen you. :)

If this is the same refuge where you got Tucker, I think maybe he and Baxter had a plan all along, from the moment they saw you!

The expression says it all. Like I said, she pulled out all the stops. I'm the first non-female she has allowed to handle her since she's been there. She called hello to me from across a room full of birds, and when I went over to see her, she wanted me to scratch her head. The owner thought I was going to lose a finger, and was shocked when Baxter climbed up on my arm.

No deposit necessary on this one. When she sees a good match, she doesn't show the birds to other people unless she knows they aren't serious. In over a year, Baxter has only had one other family even consider her. Perhaps she was waiting for me?

Oh you are in SO much trouble!!

Yes, the same refuge. Baxter is the one who called to me when I was visiting with Tucker. I still can't believe she hasn't been adopted yet. She's so sweet, and has so much personality.

Tucker has his visit with the vet on Wednesday. I will wait for his lab results to make sure all is well before I think about bringing another one home... Just to be safe. After that, well, little miss Baxter is quickly sucking me in, soooooo, I'm finding it hard to say no. :-)

Yeah, true! She's got me wrapped already. But really the only trouble is getting myself convinced I can handle two and be fair to both. I just so much want the best for them.

Yep, you've been chosen. Look at those eyes....!

Oh my goodness... she is a Love!!
And she is loving on you for sure!!

Having a bird act like that to you means one thing, it likes you. I wouldn't have been able to leave with out Baxter. I often wonder about getting another bird but don't want to upset my Billy. I would do it in a second if I knew Bill would like a companion? Good luck on figuring out what to do with that.

Oh geez, I know that look. The Missus gave it to me when I met her through a mutual friend long long ago. I think you're toast, buddy. :)

Hahahaha! I know. Resistance is useless. It's only a matter of time, and a short one at that, I think. My wife and kids all see it in my eyes, and of course, Baxter's eyes in the pictures.

Tucker goes to the vet today for his checkup. Once I get his labs back, I'll feel more comfortable. I definitely have a little paranoia about what I might be missing, or doing wrong, having lost Cuckoo and then Patches in a relatively short time. I couldn't forgive myself if it's something in my house causing a problem for the birds, and I missed it.

This is a true story. 4th of July picnic. I asked him if he wanted to go see some fireworks later. Then I gave him the look. Pffffft!

you say she only likes select women with short hair, but I think that may not be 100% accurate!

True. She's expanded her group of acceptable humans... Select women with short hair, and apparently... me. :-D

That picture melted my heart! I so hope you can work it out to bring that sweetie home.

Oh shoot! My chanting got eaten by the crash. Allow me to repeat myself.
