Friend, I don't know where in the world you live, but your bird needs emergency Veterinary treatment immediately, so you need to find your closest Avian Specialist Veterinarian and get your bird to them as soon as possible. If you have to drive hours and hours one-way, then that's what you're going to have to do.
We can help you find the closest Avian Vet to you...Where is it that you live friend?
***Here is what you need to understand: First of all, putting "Band-Aids" on your bird's leg is only necessary if there are exterior wounds on his leg...And if there are exterior wounds/bleeding on the outside of his leg, they are the very least of his problem.
Your bird is in a huge, massive amount of pain, and he has been for the last 2 days since this happened. Fractures are horribly painful, and the leg bones are the largest bones in their bodies, so the pain is very, very great...YOUR BIRD CAN EASILY DIE JUST FROM THE STRESS OF THE PAIN! Birds cannot handle great stress, I'm sure you know that, and the horrible pain that he's in could alone kill him. So he needs to get prescription opiate pain medications from a Veterinarian, along with a prescription anti-inflammatory and antibiotics.
***Here's the biggest issue with a broken leg: First of all, if you don't get an Avian Veterinarian to properly "set" the fracture, meaning line-up your bird's broken leg bone, and then immobilize the entire leg so that the bone will stay lined-up and will not more, so that it can heal properly, your bird will never be able to walk again or use his leg, nor will he be able to fly again, as his balance will be off, and he will not be able to land...BUT THIS IS STILL NOT THE LARGEST PROBLEM THAT YOUR BIRD IS GOING TO FACE...
***If you don't get your bird to an Avian Vet immediately (he should have already gotten to a vet the minute this happened, so you're way behind getting him help), HE IS MOST-LIKELY GOING TO LOSE HIS ENTIRE LEG, IF NOT HIS LIFE! I don't mean to actually scare you, but really I do, because you obviously don't understand how serious and how life-threatening a fractured leg is without medical treatment...Bones are extremely vascularized, meaning that bones have a very good blood-supply to them and inside of them. So depending on how bad the fracture is and whether or not there are also any exterior wounds around the fractured bone (which I'm guessing there are since you're putting Band-Aids on his leg), YOUR BIRD'S LEG CAN BECOME VERY BADLY INFECTED WITH BACTERIA AND FUNGI, AND THIS WILL CAUSE YOUR BIRD'S LEG TISSUE AROUND THE FRACTURE TO BECOME NECROTIC, WHICH MEANS IT WILL DIE. The infection will start around the fractured bone and then continue to spread outward, until his entire leg is dead and needs to be removed, and very quickly the infection can spread to his blood-stream, which will give him a systemic blood infection, which he will die from. So this is why he must absolutely get to an Avian Vet right away.
Listen, please let us know where it is that you live so that we can find the closest Avian Vet (or any Vet really, if there isn't an Avian Veterinarian close to you then you need to find an Exotic Vet or a Poultry Vet, etc.)...In the meantime, can you take some photos of your bird's leg and post them so that we can see what we're dealing with? DON'T MOVE YOUR BIRD AROUND AT ALL!!! KEEP HIM STILL, AND DON'T ATTEMPT TO MOVE HIS LEG AROUND! The more you move him the more horrible pain he'll experience, but also the more the bone, if it is fractured, will move around inside of his leg and cause internal bleeding and risk infection.
Keep him warm, keep him still and don't let him move, bring his food and water to him, etc.
Are there exterior wounds/bleeding on the leg? Did the bone come through the skin, can you see the bone? Band-Aids are not the answer my friend, your bird is in very serious condition, and his life is at risk for a number of different reasons. Not to scare you, but I can almost guarantee you that if you don't get your bird to an Avian Vet immediately, like today, he's going to lose his leg at the very least. It's already been over 2 days since this happened and he should have been taken to a Vet the minute it happened, he's in horrible pain, agony, he needs to be treated by a professional. So let us know where you live so we can help you find an Avian Vet, and in the meantime please get your bird set-up in a warm, comfortable place, and don't move him around at all...Has he been eating and drinking since this happened? If not, it's due to the pain he's in, and any infection that has possibly set-in...
