Well tonight Chuy thought he was going to explore to behind the refrigerator for some reason....and during the struggle of trying to get him out before he got into the dam fan....he can barely put any weight on his leg.

He can't put much weight on it, but I do see him trying to use it when climbing.....any suggestions on trying to comfort him? How does a bird show pain? He isn't sqwaking like he's in pain and he was making noises to me.

You need to take him to
An avian vet right away. If he can’t put weight on it he is in pain. Please keep us updated.

Agreed!
Please, please do that.
When a bird can't use one foot, the other is often strained and eventually injured/harmed, and then... tragic... the bird can't stand. After that, it just gets worse, and it's truly downhill.
Birds hide their pain... it's a flock/predator-avoidance thing.
While you're looking for a vet, please keep him warm and away from stress. Please watch to make sure he can get to water and food.
Good luck, to you and Chuy.

what would you do if you couldn't walk on your leg?..

He needs to see a vet

I forgot to update this..........but Chuy went to the vet and he has a fracture. They splinted his leg, and he is living in an aquarium on lock down from climbing for 2 weeks. That way he learns!

good ot hear that it was caught before it became a long term problem!

He's doing pretty good for being in an aquarium...we returned to the vet today because he wants to chew on his splint tape...

Glad you updated us, Chuy; nothing makes me (and most forum-goers here, I imagine) happier than knowing things turned out alright. Hope your little guy has a speedy recovery! And learns not to climb into more trouble!

Update.......well Chuy is already back to his normal self. He's been in that aquarium for a week and a half now.

He's too funny.......he has been standing on the edge of his bowl bouncing up n down as to say "I want out, I want out!"

Now that his leg is a lot better he wants to be with me. He's stepping up, and I can feel him grab my finger with his bad leg.......his Dr says the splint should come off on Monday.

Do you think I should let him back into his cage early? Or just wait? Poor guy he wants to climb so bad!

I would hold off. It would be such a shame for him to do too much too soon and injure himself.

always wait, Doctor's orders! I learnt the hard way with some medication I was on a couple years back to do exactly as the doctor says! I was on some antibiotics for a bad case of flu, felt better and came off them early thinking it was done. Next week was in the hospital with Pneumonia

Well... somebody got their splint removed, and got a clean bill of health...he's so happy to be back in his cage....thank the Lord this is behind us!
