My Heart is Breaking Again!

Mark, you and Sally are in my prayers this morning. I hope they will only have to take half the toe, and that her recovery will be swift.

How has she been about picking at her wounds? Hopefully she's been good about it. Anyhow, we're all pulling for you two!

Thinking of you and Sally today and praying all goes well

Mark, will be thinking of you and Sally today. I hope Sally's surgery is uneventful and the last necessary.

Just went through this thead. Been away for a while. Can't add anything new Mark. Just that you have another person thinking and praying for you guys. Good luck Sally.

Also, one of the most amazing thing about animals is their ability to work with what they got and not let it slow them down. It's us humans that feel sorry for ourselves. Once she gets through this, you'll be amazed at how she adapts and flourishes. And you're the perfect pop to guide her through it.

Sally is out of surgery, and the vet says she's doing fine.

She lost half a toe.

Thank you for taking the time to update us while you have all this going on. Most of us haven't even ever met you or your birds, but I think it's obvious we all feel like we have a stake in the welfare of you and your flock.

Sally is much beloved here, Mark, and I'm really glad to hear her surgery seems to have gone so well. Wishing her a quick and complete recovery.

Glad Sally is out of surgery and that she 'only' lost half a toe! I hope this infection has run its course and never comes back!

So glad the surgery went well and that Sally is recovering well...Get Well Soon Sally and Stay Well

Thanks, Mark, for delivering the great news considering the gravity of the situation. Is Sally now clear of her staph infection, or at least being successfully treated?

The infection is under control with the antibiotics...

She's home. She was VERY happy to see me. She's in a lot of pain, and is very gimpy on that foot. She isn't putting any weight on it...

Is she good about leaving her feet alone? Or have you had to give her a cone? And is she still on the nerve meds?

It has been a couple of days since the surgery, how is pretty Sally doing? I know you are loving and spoiling her!

Yes, wondering, here, too...
Hopefully, you're busy, with your hands full with a lovey, demanding, spoiled Sally.

Friday and Saturday were rough. Every time she tried to use that foot, or put weight on it, she fell over, and had to catch herself with her beak... So I did my best to just keep her quiet, and kept giving her pain meds.

She's eating okay.

Yesterday was much, much better. She was able to hobble around a bit, and was a lot more perky... even to the point of being jealous of the other amazons again. So, she's recovering.

Thats Great news...it wont take her long at all to come back to her old self...so glad to hear she is doing well ... thanks for letting us know

Thanks for the update, Mark! I'm happy to hear Sally is feeling better. I know you're doing everything possible to help her recover, she's lucky to have such a wonderful home.

YAYYYYYYYY, good newzszszszsz!!!

Good update. I'm not surprised that poor Sally was having some initial trouble adjusting, but I'm so glad that she's beginning to adapt.

And the fact that she's eating well is excellent! Sounds like her recovery is going very well. You're doing a wonderful job with her, Mark.
