My lil doodlebug---Nappy

I remember the sound of those little toenails on the floors as you ran from room to room looking for me. At each door I would hear "momma? Momma?" and you would move to the next door and do the same. Then you would find me and I would hear "momma! Go see Nappy!!" as you run across the floor like a little green scud missle towards me. I scoop you up and give you loves and kisses. This is a part of my daily routine that I miss more than anything in the world. I had put a deposit on you before you even hatched, I remember the first visit after you hatched, you were 4 days old. You were a lil pink blob and from that moment on you owned my heart. It wasnt always easy (got the scars to prove it) but I know how much you loved me. Never once do I believe that you didnt love me, you made it so apparent. There is nothing I wouldnt do to get just one more day. I am so sorry baby, Im so sorry I couldnt make you better. Mommy loves you so much, I have from day one and I always will. I will see you again and you will get all the scritches and cuddles and loves you can handle for eternity. Till then baby...mommy loves and misses you so much.


For all those reading this post, I lost my beautiful baby of 12 years due to an Aflatoxin. Despite being in the hospital for three weeks I couldnt save her. She did not suffer and I am so thankful for that. I was not with her when she passed, my vet (whom she loved) was there and she passed as she was climbing his labcoat to get to her favorite perch...the shoulder. For all those who have lost their beloved babies my heart is with you.

Thank you all for the kind words. I was and still am as bonded to her as she was to me. Tomorrow I will be going to pick up a baby eclectus., Im hoping that this lil girl will be as happy as Nappy was. Im sure she will bring light to a dark place I have inside. I know I can never replace my beloved Nappy, but I also know that I can give a good home to another baby. Anyway, Thank you all

What a touching post...

You can never replace an animal or human being for that matter... but you can move forward, which you are doing with your new babies...

When I lost my Quaker, Shrek, I couldn't get another quaker, but some months later I got an Alexandrine, a baby, and now I have a male Eclectus, who's still being hand fed...
