Hi

I just got a new young Sun Conure. After a few days, I observe:

  1. He keeps twitching one side of his wing while bobbing his head and making small squawks every time I gently scratch his head or when he's standing very close to me (as in touching).
  2. I assume he's hungry or just want my attention, because he stops as soon as he is eating something.
  3. I assume it's a young bird thing and he will grow it out eventually.
  4. He eats a lot for a young bird, he can finish half bowl of pellets in a day. He spends most of morning and afternoon eating.
  5. He is a bit of clumsy side despite his liking in climbing everything. He keeps falling down, or tumble, or losing balance.
  6. Regarding the point 5 above, do I have to be worried or is it something he will grow out too eventually?

FYI:
1. He is approx. 10 weeks old
2. He is the only bird at my house
3. He has been living with me for a week
4. I feed him mainly Kaytee Exact Rainbow Parrot & Conure Pellets

Thank you in advance for your advises. :orange:

The clumsiness sounds like him just being young though with how clownish conures are he may always seem a little clumsy.
That all sounds like normal young bird behaviour to me but there are other people here with better experience than me so I'd wait for them.

My real advice though is to consider a different pellet. Kaytee exact rainbow contains a lot of colourings that after awhile can cause serious strain on a birds liver. Their pellets aren't safe for human consumption either.
