While I was waiting for Prim to arrive in November, I kept myself busy making her toys, a playpen, and her happy hut. The great thing about fleece is that you can cut it in all kinds of ways and it won't shred, it's also washable.

I used a method to make her hut that I do with fleece pillows, cut notches in the fleece and tie it together! What I did to make this one was take a small box (or use half a cereal box), cut two pieces of fleece that were roughly 1-2 inches bigger than the cardboard, then notched the 1-2 inches and tied around the box. Then I used a couple ropes of felt I made to attach it to the top of the cage.

At first she didn't know how to use it! She would sleep hanging off the side of it! But last month she began to use it and now she sleeps there diligently! IT's so cute when she pops her head out!

Hope this is useful for fellow bird owners!

wow good job on it i am glad to see she likes it

Golly that's EXCELLENT! I'll remember this for when my Franklin wears his out. He uses it religiously every single night. I don't think he could live without it. He tries to tell our cockatiels what their missing out on, but they don't listen. They've n ever even tried to go in theirs. :)

Haha, thank you! She certainly does love it, and I'm happy about that!

It took like 30 minutes to make and that much fleece costs only a couple dollars and you will have much left over to make other fleece toys!

That is EXCELLENT! You should be very proud!!! (You could totally sell those!!)

Oh wow I am feeling all vain and proud of myself now! Thanks guys!
I could sell them but they are so easy to make! Maybe I should just to a tutorial or something so people could see how easy it is.

That's a great hut! I like it better than the one I got for Puck. He slept in his when I first got him, but he doesn't use it anymore now. I don't know why. He has a toy made with fleece though, and loves to play with it.

Trust me, a lot of people would rather just buy one than make it, both for convenience and because they aren't comfortable making stuff.

I do all my own home remodeling, but I hear constantly, "I don't know how to do stuff like that." Neither did I. My parents aren't at all handy. I just figured it out as I went.

I really like the name in beads idea too, great way to pretty up a cage. I may do this myself <3
