My Poor Pi!!!

My Pionus is in the process of laying eggs! She is not fertile, so the eggs are purely yolks. She has passed one and is in the process of another. I am just hoping for some tips. I have had my macaw do it, but she only laid one egg at a time. If you know of any signs to check to know if she is having trouble enough to take her to the vet, please let me know!!!

Do like i did when Figaro Layed her first egg on Mark.
I said

hun good luck now there is no doubt your Pi is female .
best thing to do is take the unfertile eggs away from her.
she wont like you for doing this as Maternal in stinks set in .

Luckily, she didnt seem to mind me taking the one away from her. I think she trusts me enough... oh I love her to pieces haha. I just dont know if I need to make her a nest so that maybe it might help her feel more comfortable rather than just sitting on the top of the cage under a cutout shoe box. I covered half of her cage with her night sheet, so that seems to help give her some privacy, and I put newspaper down on the bottom of the cage so that it covers the wire bottom (its not really wire, but you all know what I mean I am sure). Is there anything else I should do? Does she need a certain kind of food, maybe a nest, I am so new at this female bird thing haha. I was really young with my macaw. besides, she was a pro.

And yeah, it is nice to know that I can now officially call my bird "girl" haha. I wasnt sure before, but now I got it right hahaha.

It is really not a good idea to take the eggs away from her. It will make her lay more therefore depleting her calcium. They should be left with her to play "mom" for about 28 days or so, and when she is finished with them, she will just leave them alone or break them. If you really want to get rid of them, replace them with fake eggs.

Also, if you haven't already, you should ensure she is getting plenty of calcium - even if you leave the eggs there.

Hi there! Riley's mom was right about leaving the eggs and or replacing them with fake eggs. If it gets really bad, a vet visit is always a great idea. As far as calcium you can hardboil eggs and mash up egg and shells. Almonds are a great source of calcium and dark green veggies. Good luck.
