So, the vet is even shocked by my weird conures behavior. He does not have cage aggression or ever bit, ever! Is this normal? have you guys ever had one that was so sweet? I linked to the original post that I have already typed up below. I want to get more people's opinion

I have owned different kinds of parrots since I was a young boy but never have come across a bird like my Charlie. I got him when he was 15 years old and have to say from day one he was weird, but in a good way. Here are the things I find so weird about him:

1. He has zero cage agression. This shocked the vet and me as well.
2. He does not bite, ever. The lady I got him from said he has never bitten anyone.
3. He does not know how to fly, which I have never heard of. The vet says he is capable but must have never been fledged properly. Patagonians also burrow in mud so they are fond of the ground.
4. He is terrified of heights and gets upset if he is lifted higher than shoulder height.
5. He makes bizaare noises that I have never heard another parrot make. He makes a clicking noise like the electronic sound a virtual keyboard makes when you type.
6. He is a dancing fool! If he hears anything that remotely sounds like music, he is total boogie nights.
7. 9pm is bed time period! Lights out, no noise or he goes on an ear busting tyrade.
8. Never close the blinds, he must have his view outside.
9. He flips his head at you and that is his way of telling you off if you ignore him.

Is this normal for this species of parrot? I have never seen a patagonian conure before, only the standard sun, nanday, green cheek, etc. and he is nothing like them.

Thanks :rainbow1:

UMMM sounds like a conure, pretty much. They are loving but demanding! Without the description, just the traits Id be like....really sounds like a conure.

Kind of sounds like a much more chill version of my cockatoo (still crazy as heck FYI)...minus having never bitten anyone (because she DEFINITELY has LOL!) and the fear of heights (mine loves being swooped high in the air)..and make that bedtime 5-6PM lol (but it MUST happen..like an old lady set her in ways---unless something great happens to keep her up lol!).
The angry head flip is totally relatable....so is the lack of Flying to some extent (although mine will fly if scared--she just avoids it if she can walk or boss me around instead)..the window thing is also relatable ...and the dancing...

Your bird sounds like a middle-aged gentleman who used to be a diva in his younger years...and is sort of over it, but not quite... lol!

I would love to contribute!
In addition to the links in my signature, here is a little tutorial on Patagonians that I whipped up a while back.

Our vet, too, appreciates my bird's "specialness", starting with the fact that the Rickeybird's nearness is always known from his presence in the parking lot. No need for the receptionist to announce that the Patagonian has arrived.

I alaready love your bird! He sounds like a little gem. I'm glad he has someone special like you to love him back. :-)
