Jenday Conure
Well, as the title says I am wanting to get a sleeping cage for my Jenday. Currently her cage is out in the living room which is next to the TV and in a high traffic area. I am a bit of a night owl and go to sleep well after she should be snoozing. I know my night activities have to bother her.

Her day cage is an A&E playtop with inside dimensions of 24"x22"x30". I want to get a cage for my bedroom that I can put her in to get her 10 to 12 hours of undisturbed sleep. Since she wont be stuck in there all day I want to go smaller than her day cage. What dimensions should a sleep cage be for a Jenday Conure? I found a nice cage, 16"x16"x22". It looks like she should be able to fully stretch her winds and turn around no problem. IS that a good size or too small?

Also, what should I put in her sleep cage? Just a perch? Water and/or food? Any toys? Thank s in advance for all the help.

Hopefully someone will be along to help you with that. None of my birds have a "sleep cage". Over the years they have learned to adjust with covers. :green1:

My bird's cage is also near the TV in a high traffic area. At first this was a problem, Like Riley's Mom I cover his cage at night, though he definitely seemed to get agitated when there was to much noise. I could not and still cant afford another cage to put him in at night nor do I have the extra space in my house to move his cage to a new location. My remedy was to convince my parents to be quiet after a certain time at night. This included turning off most of the lights in the three rooms that were all making up the area where his cage was and to turn down the tv volume. This seemed to have worked. My night owl family made adjusted their schedule and habits and in the end my Conure is a much happier bird.

I can't give much advice on size. But what should be in there: A couple of perches, some sort of toy might be good - he may not want to sleep right away, a happy-hut/cozy-corner or the like if he uses those, and ALWAYS fresh water.

He certainly could have food as well, but this could be limited to his day cage.

As you mentioned, your night activities could bother her, perhaps place her in a quiet room.
I have a night cage for my AG Mishka. Not sure of the size (was never good in maths) LoL.
The cage is in my bedroom, (probably the only room where it is peaceful and quiet) with two teen sons in and out all the time, the location is perfect.
I give her fresh water, no food (I did in the beginning, she just played with it)
She goes to sleep almost immediately, few sips of water, then dream land.
There is one small toy rope, with a chain, hanging from the top.
She starts playing with it, at about 3.45am (we get up at 4am).
Let us know what your plan is
Good luck

I use a cage similar to this as a traveling for several day type cage, and think it would make a decent sleep cage.

i would put a wooden dowl down low with fresh water and a little food

a happy hut in the top with a rope perch by it and maybe a favorite toy in the corner with a cement perch.
