Earlier this mth I ordered a face mask online from Joyful Solution because most stores were sold out. They say they are based in the US so I thought that's where the mask was coming from. They said it could take 7 to 16 days for delivery.

Now the emailed me today and said due to the virus and delayed flights it may take 30 days. Also now I found out the mask is coming from China but they said WHO says it's safe because the virus can't survive in the packaging. I can't cancel the order because it's been shipped, but I could request a refund once I get it and ship it back. So should I keep it?

I got a mask from CVS but didn't know when I bought it that it says it does not protect from disease or infection. So should I keep the one from China once it comes?

What would you do? If I send the one from China back then I don't have one and only have the one from CVS which says it doesn't protect.

I've decided I'm going to keep the mask once it does arrive. I'm not having to get around people too much right now so I'll be fine. Hi-Yo Oliver away!

Why don't we shoot for 300 or more and . . . . . . . . . . . . .(lol) what a trip

At present, I'm seeing an ever increasing number of individuals wearing medical and industrial grade masks. The sad part is that the vast majority are wearing them incorrectly. As a result, they are providing near zero protection of any kind for themself, let alone the rest of us.

You will likely be receiving industrial grade masks from China as the majority of what they are sending out of their Country are not medical grade. Are they worthless? Well, if you place them on your face and properly adjust the nose band they are better than what most people who are not placing them correctly have...

It is very important to understand that the goal of a standard mask is to 'retain' your exhaled breath and it's contains, not to act as a filter protection for your inhaled breath!

Most masks are defined by a number as to the level of protection they provide. The N-95 series and higher numbers (like an N-100) are classified as filtering both your inhaled and exhaled breath as long as you place it on your face correctly.

WARNING: Never wear a mask when exercising or doing physically demanding work!!! You will quickly over-heat and could pass-out!!!

To me a mask that is rated to filter particles the size of viruses, can't be all bad
When we lived in the time if just common flu, as an at risk person I received advice to wear a mask.......just saying.....and when I have to go to the he hospital for treatments back before the pandemic.....I received my treatment with the chemo therapy patients, the ones with low white counts were always given masks to wear to protect them....
So it seems kinda of odd that now we have a pandemic and all if a sudden masks have no value????
Sure their are pros and cons and no guarantee, but the pro is virus filtered out mostly..and don't touch your face, and doesn't work if your breath makes wet,
I wore a mask to get groceries, that I had a box of for years as mentioned above... I turned a corner in the store and accidentally ran into someone who coughed on me, so I was sure happy their was something between us, I then left and trashed the mask.......

I received a letter of apology from the company I ordered the mask from, Joyful Solution, for the delay in getting it. They said it was due to flights being canceled, but that my mask has been shipped. However, it could be 30 days before I get it.

They said not to worry about the mask coming from China, as WHO says the virus can't live in the packaging. The company said they are not accepting any new orders. However, I do have a mask from CVS, but turns out it's a particulate mask and don't protect from disease or infection. Someone else said better than nothing.

The warning is likely because the mask is classified as Industrial! This is more a liability issue than a safety issue. The important thing is the filtering rate of the mask. Someplace on the packaging is a statement regarding the filtering rate, the size of the maximum 'particulate' that it will filter. Commonly found in the tiny print area.

It is so important to remember that the 'standard' surgical mask is designed to protect the client from the doctor.

Regarding better than nothing. There is a line of truth to that statement. Remember that Social Separation provides a reduction in volume in the air, which simplify what the Mask needs to do! Thus, a correcting worn mask will provide greater protection than a N-95 not worn correctly...

I read an article, but didn't save. It was an interview with a doctor. And he said that tho the filter rate is less in a regular mask, it still limited what can pass through. He said if three linebackers tried to get through a door at the same time, only one could....
Some dissese take several like hundreds or thousands of bacteria or virus to make you sick, while some like tuberculosis one bacteria will mak you sick. It's called virulence factor.
I don't know if anyone knows the virulence factor with this virus yet. But limiting numbers has to help.
They say healthcare workers can get very sick sometimes because they are exposed to overwhelming numbers of whatever infection they are treating...
I want healthcare workers to have masks. But if you already have a mask why not use it? That's my take

Virulence Factors

Virulence factors help to (1) invade the host, (2) cause disease, and (3) evade host defenses.

I will use the mask I do have from CVS till I get the other one. If I can I'll send a pic of the one coming feom China.

It states that it is an N-95 mask and likely depending of the filters will filter to N-99 level. This mask type is quickly becoming very popular, likely because of its appearance and with filter pad exchange can be used over an extended time.

The down fall of this mask, like most all masks, is the area around the nose, especially as it transitions from the nose to the face! It is very important to assure that the mask seals a that point in which the nose skin transitions into the face skin!!!!!!!!

This style of face mask is classified at industrial because the manufacture choose not to obtain the testing for a medical use classification! Nor do they carry the Liability Insurance required for medical use. This does not reduce the functionality of the product... Remember, the greatest failure is that of the user not installing it correctly...

I hope that this helps you and everyone else that reads this and as a result start wearing their masks correctly!

Please remember that when using a Mask, being physically active is dangerous, as they increase the heat (Temperature) of the air draw into the lungs and reduces the rate air is exhaled. The likelihood of becoming overheated and or passing out is greatly increased...

I'm sure it will provide protection for me, like as stated, I wear it correctly. I have some limited mobility so do not get out and around people a lot.
