I just applied for a new part-time job last night. It is a 20 hour/week receptionist position with a local chamber of commerce. I'm currently working "part-time" (my hours seem to be a bone of contention with my employer) as a file clerk. I work on concrete in a hot warehouse filing sheet after sheet after sheet of paper. The monotony of it is nearly unbearable.

So, any good thoughts you can send my way ... good juju, good mojo, good vibes (I'll take anything, I am desperate! LOL) ... would be greatly appreciated!!

Sending all the above to you, Hope you get the job, let us know how you get on. :D

I wish you get the job Deanna! I really do, because toy sounded like you really want it!

I keep my fingers cossed for you!:smile046: :)

Keeping happy positive thoughts for you....good luck..

Thank you all!! (((((bighugs))))!! I believe in the power of positive thought.

I’ve received an e-mail back from the woman and she said that she will be in contact next week to schedule an interview. They will be making their decision by 15 July. This weekend, I’ll go find a nice new outfit and a new pair of shoes to go with.

Today at work was ludicrously funny :D . My co-worker just cannot stand or handle the fact that I am part-time. They hired me as a 15 hour a week file clerk; then, after I started they were quickly adding hours upon hours until I abruptly put the brakes on and in no uncertain terms made sure they understood that I will not work anything over half-time. I was married to my business for nearly 3 ½ years; my husband suffered, my health suffered, my home suffered and my precious babies suffered – I am very, very careful with how I spend my time now. My co-worker was nearly incensed when it was time for me to leave today; I simply smiled at her and excused myself leaving her in a huff. Good grief! (I think smiling at her made her even angrier! LOL).

Good for you Deanna, theres a time that we all need to put the brakes on work, At the end of the day your family is far more important than work, and yep even money. Its nice to have but not at the expense at your health, or your family.

You go girl. :D

Thank you, thank you for the affirmation dear Peta!!

I've just a thought ... I was told about a store manager position at a local thrift shop that benefits pets. I don't know if they've filled the position, but I think with my background, I should most certainly apply! They need someone with merchandising background (which I don't have), but I have "pet" background and that should be worth *something*, eh? Worth a phone call anyway!!!

gooooooo Deanna!!! LOL

Thanks everyone! From my heart :smile015:

Ok, so I've got my resume updated and ready to rumble. Now just working on my cover letter for this humane society/thrift store manager. I am the world's worst salesperson--and, I have to find a way to "look appealing" in the absence of merchandising experience. ...My pet experience (I am hoping, anyway) *might* be of importance to this gentleman. (I say I am the world's worst salesman, yet I sold myself for 3 1/2 years quite successfully ... I have to keep a positive attitude).

Ok, off with me ... I have to get this cover letter pounded out so I can stop worrying about it!

Wow! I've gotten a lot of unexpected feed back from people "in the know" about this local humane society/thrift store guy ... NONE of it was positive (that is very much an understatement).

My plan was to deliver my cover letter and resume this morning ... but last night, was the night from hell -- I had nightmare after nightmare (this is BEFORE I learned of the derogatory things about this organization) about the thrift store. I woke very unrested and began making telephone calls to people that I thought would be of help. So, as it turns out, I'm withdrawing my interest in the position and shredding my appication!

Ack! Back to square one. ...I do have the upcoming interview with the Chamber of Commerce (in a little town, just down the road) next week'ish. Other than that, I'm back to the beginning.

I was a little dissappointed about the humane society/thrift store thing; but, much, much moreso, I was relieved because I've been having not so good gut feelings about it. So...all is well that ends well!!!
